GOP Releases CIA Classified Information to Media
Source: The Hill

GOP members on the Intelligence Committee on Thursday told The Hill in on-the-record interviews that they were informed that the controversial methods have led to information that prevented terrorist attacks.

When told of the GOP claims, Democrats strongly criticized the members who revealed information that was provided at the closed House Intelligence Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations hearing. Democrats on the panel said they could not respond substantively, pointing out that the hearing was closed.

Democrats lambasted their Republican counterparts for discussing the information that was provided behind locked doors.

“I am absolutely shocked that members of the Intelligence committee who attended a closed-door hearing … then walked out that hearing — early, by the way — and characterized anything that happened in that hearing,” said Intelligence Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chairwoman Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.). “My understanding is that’s a violation of the rules. It may be more than that.”

Why are these Republican Traitors who just revealed CIA Classified Intelligence of National Security importance, that protects our families, not be arrested and locked away somewhere to keep further leaks from occurring? This is outrageous, and Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chairwoman Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.)knows it. This is a breakdown of American Democracy at the highest levels.

1. GOP to Democrats: Oh, Ya? Prove it! I Dare ya!
No, I'm not kidding.

House GOP dares Dems to prove intel allegations

House Republicans on Friday reacted to Democratic claims that they leaked sensitive information from a closed Intelligence Committee hearing by using the same line of attack they’ve deployed on Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.): Prove it.

“First you have Speaker Pelosi accusing the CIA of misleading Congress all the time without providing any proof. Now other Democrats are following her lead and making equally false claims without any proof,” Jamal Ware, spokesman for House Intelligence Committee Republicans, said on Friday. “If they believe the classified substance of the meeting was revealed, they should prove it.”

Intelligence Committee Democrats on Thursday blasted Republicans on the panel for telling The Hill in on-the-record interviews that they came away from a closed-door subcommittee hearing on interrogations believing that controversial interrogation methods have prevented terrorist attacks.

“The hearing did address the enhanced interrogation techniques that have been much in the news lately,” Rep. John Kline (R-Minn.), a member of the Intelligence Oversight and Investigations subcommittee, said following the subcommittee hearing.

But it wold appear they GOP is making a claim based on information which is classified, then telling the Democrats to prove them wrong by also revealing classified information.

9. True enough.
What they did is a separate issue and should be judged as such. However, my point is we should not even be having the discussion at all. It is a diversion and nothing more.

8. Prove it? I'm waiting for the Dems to apologize for it ( whatever the latest "it" is)
with all my disappointment in my party over the last 30 years, at least apologizing for ( fill in the blank) is something we've gotten pretty damn good at. Having this image of the playground bully yelling prove it, and the 98 pound weakling slinking away.

4. Secrecy is the lifeblood of torture
Did FBI agent Ali Soufan lie under oath or are the secret briefing sources lying?

Anonymous sources told Congress in a secret briefing that torture worked? Wow. Impressive. No CYA involved? Torture advocates are fine with all sorts of sadistic methods but they draw the line at forging a paper trail?

Can anyone in D.C. be honest about anything? The secrecy is making a mockery out of representative democracy. Abusing secrecy has become the standard.

5. They've got the perfect cover for their lies no matter what happens
Even if all the memos are released, even if all the photos and videos of interrogation that still exist after the CIA purge are shown to the public, you know what'll happen? Those same Repugs will claim that the proof is in the re-dacted/destroyed material.

It's only in looking at all the available evidence and piecing together the arrests, names and dates that the truth emerges. Nothing in the memos can refute it. But most Americans will never do that.
