N.Y. Bomb Suspects Said to Have No Connections to Terror Groups
Source: Bloomberg

By Chris Dolmetsch and Edvard Pettersson

May 21 (Bloomberg) -- The four men arrested last night on allegations they plotted to bomb New York City synagogues and shoot down military planes were homegrown criminals with no connections to global terror groups, officials said today.

The suspects knew each other through “prison -- prison contacts for the most part,” New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said in a televised press conference in the Bronx.

The main suspect, James Cromitie, 53, has been arrested as many as 27 times in New York City and upstate, and the others all had criminal records, had spent time in prison and had “varying levels of charges” against them, Kelly said.

“If there can be any good news from this terror scare, it’s that this group was relatively unsophisticated, infiltrated early and not connected to another terrorist group,” New York Senator Charles Schumer, a Democrat, said in a statement.

1. Hilarious
The Frat Boys, Incorporated have done it again.

They found 4 demoralized products of Institutionalized America, talked them into doing something really stupid (not too hard, since the 'ringleader' had done stupid shit at least 27 times before), made some pretend-bombs for them and produced a foto-op.

And Shumer prattles on about "international terrorism".

Cromitie has apparently spent most of his time in lockdown, doubt he has had the time to become an international player...

3. Sounds familiar: Derrick Shareef
MSNBC:

Man arrested for alleged holiday bomb plot

snip

Shareef, of Rockford, was arrested when he met with an undercover agent in a parking lot to trade a set of stereo speakers for four hand grenades and a handgun.

Shareef had no accomplices and was not part of a terrorist cell, sources told NBC News.

Officials said Shareef had been under investigation since September, when he told an acquaintance that “he wanted to commit acts of violent jihad against targets in the United States as well as commit other crimes.”

4. The usual well-timed Bushie Psyop carried out by corrupt Bushie Law Enforcement.
America can never be free again with this level of Bushification-Nazification in our law Enforcement.

It's bad and is only getting worse.

6. Two points:
I'm not implying these guys shouldn't be under lock and key but . . . something smells a little funny about this whole thing. This is the NYPD busting international terrorism here, not the FBI.

"The plot began in June last year when the informant met Cromitie at a mosque in Newburgh, according to the complain."

The informant just happened be to be at this mosque and Cromitie suddenly began spouting jihad? What was the informant doing at the mosque? Does the NYPD regularly have informants infiltrating mosques?

They felt the best target, the WTT, had already been blown up so they opted to blow up a synagogue and shoot down USAF transport planes instead?

I think as more comes out about this we'll find the suspects were pretty hapless and probably needed the assistance of the informant to buy passes for public transportation, too.

Another point on the Bloomberg story itself:

"The alleged terrorist plot is the most serious in the U.S. since President Barack Obama took office in January. Obama’s plan to close the Guantanamo Bay military prison has raised criticism about what will happen to as many as 240 suspected terrorists, who may have to be relocated to prisons in the U.S."

What business does this paragraph have in this story?

It's like Cheney was doing the editing. 'We told him closing GTMO would lead to this sort of thing!'

These guys were straight out of prisons right here in the US. Most of the remaining inmates at GTMO are actually innocent. Talk abotu fear-mongering!

11. All this shows is that war is not the answer
No war caused this ring, however pathetic, to be uncovered--instead, it was good police work. The police and the justice system should be front and center in the fight against terrorists, not the military and intelligence.

12. Anybody Else Suspect About The Timing Of This Arrest?.......
Are we still being manipulated? Who is doing the manipulating now that BushCo is out of office? This just seems to convenient given the nature of the speeches and the discourse going on in this country right now. Seems choreographed to me.

defendants planted what they thought were bombs and arrested them. Seems like good police work to me.

No? Why? Because they are terrorists who aren't Muslim? Because they are US citizens? Why?

21. I have noticed a strange trend.
The only terrorists that the government can find are ones that the government encourages and gives weapons and money to.

Can we say self fulfilling prophesy?

Can we say entrapment?

If the bombs were fake, what exactly are they guilty of? Since when is planting plastic blocks illegal?

I'll be a million dollars that it was the FBI's idea to have these men do this and that if they didn't then some source of funding would be cut off. I'll bet another million that without the FBI's involvement they would have never done anything.

Can we have our law enforcement please focus on the actual real terror groups that are operating in the US? You know, ones with actual connections to terrorists who can get bombs and weapons without the FBI handing them the weapons?
