Former Robeson County sheriff's sentence reduced

Twenty-three people, mostly deputies, pleaded guilty to crimes that included kidnapping, money laundering, racketeering, theft of federal money and satellite piracy. Their sentences ranged from a few months to 34 years in prison.

1. Good grief, why the reduced sentence? That county has long had a reputation for bare-
knuckle politics along with politically-motivated murders and other juicy unsolved crimes. My guess is money greasing palms, but maybe someone else can explain why the sentence was too harsh. After all, he WAS in charge while all that other shit was going down.
