Alleged Nazi Demjanjuk Is Cleared For Deportation
Source: Associated Press

(05-01) 09:35 PDT CLEVELAND, (AP) --

A federal appeals court opened the way again Friday for the Justice Department to deport alleged Nazi death camp guard John Demjanjuk to Germany to face 29,000 counts of accessory to murder.

The three-judge ruling from the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati denied a stay of deportation for the 89-year-old retired autoworker from his suburban Cleveland home. The decision could be appealed.

An arrest warrant in Munich alleges he was a guard in Nazi-occupied Poland in 1943. Demjanjuk says he was a prisoner of war, not a camp guard.

His family says he's too old and sick to be sent to Germany, but the government says he gets around for his age and says surveillance video proves that.

The appeals court said it believed the government would provide appropriate care for Demjanjuk while deporting him.

3. What did he do that we have not done?
Don't get me wrong, if he is indeed guilty he should be punished..

But I want to know why Demjanjuk is so evil while our torturers have already been let off the hook..

5. I grew up being taught people like him were criminals...in fact
it is because of that education I feel that the Cheney administration needs to face trial.

What goes around comes around...but so far as it comes around it gets treated differently.

10. The Germans are charging him on 22,000 counts
of abetting murder. Which guards at Gitmo come close to that number.

11. How many murders are necessary before someone should be prosecuted?
Obviously one is not enough..

Ten?

A hundred?

A thousand?

Perhaps if it's over twenty thousand?

14. So, with no actual, real knowledge of any murders at all at gitmo
the guards there are the equivilant of a Sobibor guard accused of participation in 22,000 people.

18. Comparing Gitmo to any of the German Concentration Camps
is inherently offensive. Were our people perfect? No. Were they part of an overall effort to commit genocide against an entire race of people? Again, No.

Going down this route might make you feel good taking swipes at the last administration, but it also minimizes the unequaled evil of the holocaust.

Guards at camps that systematically murdered 12 million people, including 6 million Jews should be held to account. If you find any US Soldiers fitting that description, let me know.

6. Good...Get His Ass Outta Here
It's a shame that justice wasn't done a looooooong time ago, but better late than never. ZERO sympathy should be felt for this sick murderer.

17. how do you know he's a murderer?
Justice isn't done by deciding someone is guilty and then having a show trial. Justice is done through courts. Sure, he should face trial, but jumping to conclusions isn't justice.

7. And when will they go after the Kappos?
Surely anyone who is forced to work in a concentration camp, regardless of their background, should be prosecuted and hunted. After all, they could have said "No".
