Stanford Student Confronts Rice On Interrogations
Source: CBS5

A video from a Stanford University student shows what is claimed to be former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice visiting a dorm on Monday for a reception with students. One student doggedly presses Rice about what he believes were the torture of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, which was caught on video and posted on YouTube.

"If you were there in a position of authority and watched Americans jump out of 80 story buildings because these murderous tyrants went after innocent people, then you were determined to do anything that you could, that was legal, to prevent that from happening," Rice said, referring to the September 11th terrorist attacks.

...

When the student noted that the United States did not torture during World War II, Rice responded, "With all due respect, Nazi Germany never attacked the homeland of the United States."

However, Japan, which was part of the Axis with Germany in World War II, did bomb Pearl Harbor killing more than 2,300 U.S. military and civilians. But Rice goes back to September 11th.

...

The student told Rice, "500,000 died in World War II and yet we did not torture, we did not torture the prisoners of war."

"And we did not torture anyone here either," Rice said.

...

When specifically asked whether waterboarding is torture Rice said, "if it was authorized by the President, it did not violate our obligations under the Conventions Against Torture."

14. And her lawyer shit a brick after he watched that interview
She & bushco keep referring to the Geneva Convention, they don't give a rat's ass about the federal statutes that criminalize torture.

2. as I said in another thread about this...
...if the al quaida attack on the WTC was the supreme insult to America, why the f**k didn't Dr. Rice do due diligence and warn the president it was coming? She ignored the warnings.

She can't use the attack on the WTC as a shield against her war crimes.

She received warnings prior to the attack on the WTC.

She didn't do anything to prevent it from happening, that's the problem. They then used it as an excuse to invade Iraq.

10. she lacks even a basic knowlege of the WTC towers themselves
which were 110 stories tall, not 80. Seems she'd know that if she's so concerned with that event.

20. Adding to that there were not 3000 AMERICANS killed...
I find that to be somewhat insulting in not recognizing that nationals of 90 countries were killed among the total of 2974. As the majority of those killed were, indeed, Americans it may seem like a minor point but I think it is a fair one.

9. I'm beginning to think that Condi
and her 'comrades' in crime, are just plain stupid and ignorant of history, or they think the people are stupid and ignorant of history:

Hitler didn't attack the US? She doesn't consider someone with the military power he had at the time, declaring war on the US, a threat? Or maybe she doesn't know he declared war on the US.

http://www.worldwar2database.com/html/us_war.htm

On December 11, 1941, Hitler gave a speech to the Reichstag. Confused and rambling, he compared his own childhood of poverty to that of the wealthy Roosevelt. He declared war on the United States.

In doing so, he ensured his own destruction. UK Prime Minster Winston Churchill, when he heard of Pearl Harbor, remarked, “so we have won after all!” The American public would have been quite content with dealing with Japan and leaving the European War to the Europeans. The treachery of the Japanese attack burned bright in the minds of most Americans, and they wanted revenge. If not for the declaration of war by Germany, Roosevelt would have had a hard time justifying declaring war on Germany until Japan was destroyed. But Germany did declare war, and the U-boats moved the Eastern seaboard in January 1942.

And as someone else said in this thread, she failed to act on the clear threats against the US which might have prevented 9/11 from happening at all, something she has yet to explain.

Good for that student for making her answer to someone. I hope that eventually it will become impossible for any of them to make money continuing to lie about their criminal acts during the past eight years. That would at least be something, as it is very unlikely they will ever be prosecuted for their crimes. If that is all that happens to them, they should consider themselves very lucky considering the death and destruction they brought to bear on so many innocent people.

Operation Pastorius:

There were also numerouos incidences of U-Boat attacks on the U.S. seaboard:

Did we "waterboard" anyone affiliated with these actions against our homeland?

15. Excellent points.
If only the media would educate the public by providing information like this, but that is a hopeless dream at this point. Condi et al wouldn't have succeeded at all, if we had a real news media.

If I were in a position of authority I would have spoken up against torture and the President's thinking he's above the law.

13. Once again, they use 9/11 as their excuse for torture.
It is always the excuse for all the Bush cabal excesses. 9/11 which for some reason the Bush administration did not want investigated. 9/11, the "New Pearl Harbor" which the PNAC white paper said was necessary to bring about the "revolutionary change" they desired for US military dominance. They did finally relent to a Commission that was controlled from behind the scenes by its executive director, Philip Zelikow, a close associate of Rice, one of his academic specialities being the control of "public myth". We know Zelikow was in close contact with Karl Rove. Now we have memos showing government "Minders" intimidated witnesses to that Commission: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x5575093 Moreover, we know that many of the "facts" and "confessions" included in the Commission report came from victims of torture.

Instead of being pressed charges on committing war crimes?

Remember, "I was just following orders" is not a valid defence.

I mean, here's someone who's sat before televised Senate committees and kept her calm lying to an entire planet and one little college student causes her to crack and go to pieces? This sounds suspiciously like the sort of "You want the truth?! You can't handle the truth!" breakdown in self control that, well, really only happens in Hollywood movies. I mean, c'mon - "If we say it's legal, it is legal!"? If she really said this shit, damn, she must really have been having a bad day to lose it like that.
