Drudge: 9/11 HIJACKER LEAD IN 1999
Edited on Mon Feb-23-04 10:21 PM by Nlighten1
9/11 HIJACKER LEAD IN 1999: U.S. investigators were given first name and telephone number of Sept. 11 hijacker 2 1/2 years before attacks; did not aggressively pursue the lead, U.S. and German officials tell Tuesday's NY TIMES. Newsroom sources tell DRUDGE: Page One lead, exclusive... Developing...

That is all there is now.

One edit...this is important because this means for 2 years the Bush team SAT on this information.

4. Well
It may try to be a smear of Clinton but you have to ask who was in office in 2001...2 years after the information was passed along.

2. Ugh! Why bother citing that erroneous slimebag?
Him being a footsoldier and palsy-walsy with the Busheviks of all stripes is enough for me to disdain him.

(sorry, Nlighten1, gotta call it like I see it)

12. I don't think they figured out that Clinton is the Antichrist
until about 1992 or so.

5. Oh, Drudge is so reliable
yeah, Drudge never gets anything false or posts a lie.

This is probably just like the story that the Sudanese govt offered the U.S. bin Laden in 1998. When really it was some investment banker (heavily staked in Sudanese oil) claiming to represent the Sudanese government.

They want to get nasty, we could talk about all the signs the Bush administration ignored prior to 9-11, including the Hart-Rudman report (out in Feb 2001) or the plan the outgoing Clinton administration handed the incoming Bush administration on how to go after al Queda.

6. Drudge typical
So in other words Bush's people had the same lead for 8 mo0nths prior to 9/11 and did nothing? Drudge and all the Gop knew this man must be stopped so I am sure they struggled day and night during their time in office to find alqueda-please

8. This is old news
They gave that info to the Bush team after the inauguration -- and Bush sat on it for NINE MONTHS! Why didn't he run out and arrest them?

10. Were they told
That he was going to hijack a plane and crash it into the WTC? Does that mean the US and Germany actually knew about 9/11 for 2 1/2 years? And that Bush sat on this information for 9 months and did nothing?

Imagine that.

14. 911 started being politicized the very same day of the attacks...
The NeoCon Junta began selling the idea that day that the terrorists were based in Afghanistan, and that they had been funded by Iraq. Within a vey short time, they managed to persuade a frightened Congress to pass the Patriot Act, even though ony ONE congressman had even bothered to read the thing before voting for it.

The rest, as they say, is history.

13. i heard a while ago,
the clinton administration and gore where aware and they had put together a report and a plan and had handed it off to bush. and that was the frustrating thing for them i heard, was that bush and his people ignored the threat and what was given to them

15. you heard right
Worse than that really. Many have come forward to say that word went out to lay off of Arabs/Saudis. So it's not just ignore the hand-off from the Clinton admin., it was to actively stop work on prioritizing islamisist terrorism.

Which passes the sniff test here. 1) Sole policy objective of pre-9/11 Bush* admin was to be against anything Clinton did and 2) the Bush* family was very much in business with a variety of Arabs. Bush Sr. was meeting with a binLadin on 9/11. Remarkable.

16. Who had time to worry about terrorists in 1999?
The Republican majorities had an Inquisition to run and a penis to impeach. How many hundreds of FBI agents did they have taking affidavits of golddiggers in Arkansas?

17. I think this hurts Bush
Edited on Mon Feb-23-04 10:24 PM by DubyaSux
Personally, I beleive this vindicates Clinton.

Clinton dealt with terrorism threats as a law enforcement matter. Bush deals with terrorism by declaring war on an invisible entity.

It may be true that had law enforcement acted differently - say, as if we had been attacked by airliners earlier - maybe 9/11 could have been just another day in life of a few thousands innocent souls.

But without any indication the lead would result in the type of carnage 9/11 left us, it IS a law enforcement matter. Having this type of information in present day and protecting our homeland is purely law enforcement. We wouldn't send the Marines into Atlanta (as an example) to hunt down a lead such as this.

If this is true, this seems to invalidate Bush's "strategery" completely.

18. Didn't some guy named John O'Neil quit his job at the FBI
because he was told to back off OBl. The information was there, Mr. Bush Jr. and crowd just (to be polite) kicked the pooch.

This is from Gore Vidal book "The Enemy Within"

<snip>
Four years later, John O’Neill, a much admired FBI agent, complained in the Irish Times<17> a month before the attacks, ‘The US State Department -- and behind it the oil lobby who make up President Bush’s entourage -- blocked attempts to prove bin Laden’s guilt. The US ambassador to Yemen forbade O’Neill (and his FBI team) . . . from entering Yemen in August 2001. O’Neill resigned in frustration and took on a new job as head of security at the World Trade Centre. He died in the 11 September attack.’ Obviously, Osama has enjoyed
bipartisan American support since his enlistment in the CIA’s war to drive the Soviets out of Afghanistan. But by 9/11 there was no Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, indeed there was no Soviet Union.

20. Drudge better be vewwy, vewwy careful ...
Because if this is the case, you may find that it's included in the Hart/Rudman report on terrorism that Dick Cheney blew off because he was too fucking busy crafting his lobbyist-fueled 'secret' energy report.
