Pakistan Criticizes U.S. Linkage of Aid to Anti-Terrorist Fight

March 31 (Bloomberg) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani criticized President Barack Obama’s decision to link economic aid to Pakistan to its record on cracking down on al- Qaeda and Taliban terrorists, saying it was unfair.

“Pakistan has already done enough,” Gilani told reporters today in the capital, Islamabad. “Pakistani security forces have suffered more casualties than the NATO forces” in neighboring Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism.

Obama announced a review of U.S. policy in Afghanistan and Pakistan on March 27, saying the U.S. will increase aid to Pakistan in exchange for its crackdown against terrorists. He said he will back a move by Congress to pass a bill for to raise aid to $1.5 billion annually for Pakistan for five years.

Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan has become a base for terrorist attacks that have killed at least 4,000 people in Pakistan in the past two years. Civilian deaths last year caused by the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan were the highest since the group was ousted from power in 2001.

6. The aid will just be used by Pakistani military

for war preparations against India and funding the Taliban for their bankrupt "strategic depth doctrine."

It is best to let Pakistan have a civil war and break up into smaller, even more tinpot republics and Taliban will wither on the vine due to lack of support. Also, the Kashmir issue goes away instantly because the little countries won't have any interest in it.

The Sindhis, Baluchis and Pakhtoons east of the Durand line never cared much about enmity with India. It is the Punjabis and Mohajirs like Musharraf who primarily want to attack and rule India like the moguls did. It is a delusional pipe-dream which has been funded by the US since the 1950s.

I say stop all aid to Pakistan and let it swim or sink.
