Violations lead to 8 arrests in Fargo, including a cameraman for CNN
Source: inforum.com

As of Thursday night, Fargo police had arrested a total of eight people for violating state of emergency ordinances – such as climbing dikes – including a cameraman for CNN, Lt. Joel Vettel said Thursday night.

Arrested were Kyle Czech, 19, Moorhead; Gregory Elsner, 24, Fargo; Dane Hammer, 19, Moorhead; Rebecca Iwanicki, 21, Fargo; Katrina Ruh, 19, Farmington, Minn.; Kevin Ruhland, 24, Fargo; Laura Winter, 40, Moorhead; and Marissa Wolfgram, 20, Fargo.

Police have not had any incidents where individuals resisted arrest or where force was required to detain them, Vettel said. “Most of them were ashamed of why they were there,” he said, saying they were all sightseers.

Throughout the week, area authorities have received reports of people on dikes, stolen sump pumps and sandbags, according to police dispatch e-briefings. Authorities received a report just about 7:20 p.m. Thursday that five or six people were taking sandbags from a levee and placing them around a nearby home, according to police scanner traffic.

Hmmm, 7 young adults, 1 40 yr old. Most from FM, one from Farmington near Minneapolis. Which would be the CNN camera person and SHAME ON THEM! I read that a woman was arrested last night for climbing on a dike to take pictures, so will go with the 40 yr old for my guess.

2. I think those police just became my personal heroes
Too many media people think they are above the law; that they have a vested to access in places that other people don't have.

4. What? No names?
Just "cameraman" and "journalist?"

If those arrested were non-media-connected malefactors, would we read "a man" or "a woman?"

7. Nope...
...he's in El Paso, doing live features about the border problems. They might get him there for climbing a fence.

9. Thanks for posting also. They were warned.
Good grief. You don't threaten dike integrity for pictures OR to take sandbags for your own home.

11. My dad used to patrol dikes at night and shoot rats.
They didn't shoot these people because they could arrest them instead.

bb guns (22s?), drinking coffee. Of course it wasn't 15 degrees that yr, only down in the 40's.
