Prosecutors hint Madoff plea deal in works
Source: MSNBC

NEW YORK - Prosecutors have filed a motion indicating that Bernard Madoff may be ready to plead guilty to a sweeping financial fraud.

The U.S. Attorney’s office indicated Friday in a brief court that Madoff is ready to waive an indictment. Such language is often used when plea deals are ready to happen.

Madoff is accused of orchestrating one of the biggest financial frauds in history, a scheme that wiped out the life savings of investors around the world.

1. He deserves life in prison at hard labor.
Not one dime of public money should be used to jail him, let him work for his food and shelter, and for the wages of those who guard him. That man has caused unbelievable pain to so many people.

2. No plea deal is acceptable IMO unless Madoff admits fully to his culpability
and opens himself with such admissions to civil liability and his victims receive as much of their money as possible.

7. And until his sons who worked with him are also thoroughly investigated and indicted if appropriate
and I suspect that a thorough investigation will prove that they should be indicted.

11. He probably had lots of accomplices
A ponzi scheme like this needs plenty of recruiters - think of Amway.

4. He'll have a heart attack, private funeral (no body), and hide in the Caymen Islands with Ken Lay.
That's what they mean by "plea agreement". The proof that money talks is Madoff's ass sitting in his penthouse instead of jail - and with a huge chunk of his stolen money at his disposal! I'm so glad that penthouse and $62M are "unrelated to the scandal". Try that line with your $20K in an IRA when the bankruptcy judge asks about your assets.

5. Another "innocent until proven broke" deal?
This man has no position from which to negotiate anything.
His only possessions are fruits of ill-gotten gain and
should have been frozen from the beginning. Let him
use only public defender resources for his legal defense
like any other criminal.
