$1000 chance to hear Bush speak
Matthew Benns
February 22, 2009
CELEBRITY agent Max Markson plans to bring former US president George Bush to Australia on a $1000-ahead speaking tour next year.

"I was on a cruise in the Caribbean the day after President Obama was sworn in and I received an email asking if I could arrange for president Bush to come out," Mr Markson said.

He had previously organised speaking trips for Mr Bush's father and Bill Clinton after their terms as US president.

"I have already had the 41st and 42nd presidents, so I think it is right I should also get number 43 out here," he said.

He was confident Australians would be happy to pay $1000 a head or $10,000 a table to hear Mr Bush speak, even though he is unpopular for his decisions on the Iraq invasion, Afghanistan and the financial crisis.

"He has presided over one of the most difficult times the world has seen since World War II," Mr Markson said.

He is also investigating bringing former US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice to Australia. "I could arrange for them to come as a package, but I think Condoleezza is a star in her own right."

A 1943 steel penny--made of galvanized steel, and capable of rusting once the zinc wears off in your pocket--is worth more than a ticket to hear George Bush speak.

Bush's Calgary speech 'closed to the media'
Former president won't have to worry about dodging shoes

Published February 19, 2009 by Jeremy Klaszus in News

Former U.S. president George W. Bush won’t have to worry about dodging journalists’ shoes when he speaks in Calgary March 17, as reporters won’t be allowed in the same room as the unpopular Texan.

Christian Darbyshire of tinePublic, the group organizing the event, says news outlets won’t be able to listen to Bush’s lunchtime speech at the Telus Convention Centre. “It’s actually been closed to the media,” says Darbyshire. The Calgary event, called “A Conversation with George W. Bush,” will be the former president’s first public speech since leaving the White House in January. A table for 10 at the private event costs $4,000.

When former U.K. prime minister Tony Blair visited Calgary in November 2007 for a similar $400-a-plate event, journalists were allowed into the event to report on Blair’s speech. (TinePublic also organized that event.) “This is just a different event different rules,” says Darbyshire.

I think that we have to keep an open mind. I joined DU because i believe that our side needs to remain civil. Remember, keep your friend close and your enemies closer! I am moreworied that Barak is sending 17,000 troops to Afghanistan!! My vote was an anti-war vote! Why is he doing this?

21. Because Obama wants to hunt down, kill and capture the people who attacked NYC.
Bush just wanted to get on top of the Iraqi oil, so he let our enemies escape.

Obama is taking care of unfinished business.

Iraq was not a threat. Our enemies in Afghanistan and Pakistan are threats to the country.

Hope it helps, Mr. Open-Minded. LOL.

49. Possibly because he's seen reports the rest of us have not...
Edited on Sat Feb-28-09 09:57 AM by Deja Q
There is room for an open mind combined with a stinging acerbic wit. Lines like "Is our children learning?", "Fool me once..." and fluffing that up completely... not to mention the number of times he's just not able to get through a speech... His presentation is not synonymous with his policies. People heckle his presentation... and debate his policies.

And let's face it: G W Bush was not the first politician to get heckled, nor will he be the last. Especially in light of many stupid policies that, contrary to what he was saying, did NOT help the American people, it only makes it easier to heckle.

And I do keep an open mind: Perhaps President Obama is serious about capturing or exterminating Bin Laden. Remember, on 9/13/01 Bush said he would stop at nothing. On 2/13/02 he said OBL no longer concerned him. Do you feel the same way, despite your "anti-war" belief?

Edited: Clarification, should any truly be needed. :)

scratch the word "presided" and put in "created"

And how about the "I could arrange for them to come as a package" (Condi and chimp)...well, YEAH, we've KNOWN that for how many years now????
Pickles will be OK with this, I'm sure..she's got HER house in Dallas, probably has rejoined her old $ocial circuit. She's probably arranging chimp's speech schedule ("go, go, PLEASE go, George"). Perfect cover for a couple rumored to not be together. Him going around the world making his speeches, her tucked away in her zillionaire neighborhood.

They're going to fly in Kristinn Taylor and Jim Robinson, and have the camera zoom in on those two while Bush prattles on.

No one knows who Kristinn or RimJob are, so they can pose as ordinary Australians. With careful editing, no one will ever know there are more people on the video crew than there are in the audience.

Edited on Sat Feb-21-09 10:46 PM by Swagman
they appeared everywhere-Melbourne , Sydney , Brisbane- George Bush Snr and Karl Suleman almost hand in hand as they flew around the country in Suleman's private jet.
I guess it runs in the family-like attracts like.
convicted conman Karl Suleman & George Bush Snr in Sydney

"Entrepreneur Karl Suleman was a conman, but his lies didn't hurt anyone, his lawyer told a Sydney court today, arguing he gave financiers a tidy profit after fraudulently getting a $2.3 million loan for a $3.3 million luxury yacht which was sold for about $2.4 million.

"Mr Suleman was a conman,", Bruce Stratton, QC, told the Sydney District Court. "He has conned these people into making money."

On March 5, a NSW District Court jury found Suleman guilty of fraud.

Four charges had been laid against the Froggy.com founder following an Australian Securities and Investments Commission investigation into Karl Suleman Enterprises (KSE) and businesses in the Froggy group.

The jury in his trial was told that he lied to finance brokers and exaggerated his wealth to obtain loans of nearly $3 million for two Ferrari cars and a Princess motor yacht."

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/04/02/1080544684211.html

PS: the local Assyrian community (from Iraq) who Suleman conned out of $80M eagerly await his release from jail-with basebal bats.
Iraqis don't seem to do well when associated with the Bush name !

strong points.

Maybe "duck shoes" or "smirk" should be substituted. Something he's truly capable of.
