Iraq's Prime Minister calls on Arab states to cut ties with Israel
Source: DPA

Baghdad - Iraq's Prime Minister Wednesday called on all Arab and Muslim countries to cut their ties with Israel, calling the Israeli military attacks on Gaza "a dreadful crime," according to a press statement. Nouri al-Maliki said that "we ask Arab countries and all Muslims to cancel their diplomatic relations and stop all contacts - private and public - with this murderous regime, which continues its painful aggression against peaceful, unarmed civilians."

"There are disputes worldwide, but to reach this degree of crime, which kills children and women is unacceptable. The international silence is very disturbing to us, we hope the international community and the Security Council would take fast decisions, clear and explicit to stop the massacres against the Palestinian people," he added.

The Premier's statements came a day after Israeli attacks on three schools run by the United Nations in the Gaza Strip, including one that killed more than 46 civilians.

Since Israel began operations on Gaza more than 10 days ago some 680 Palestinians have been killed.

23. That's easy
Bush will smirk and claim it's a sign of independence and democracy in Iraq, and pat the Iraqi prez on the head like a puppy.

I'd be surprised if that statement wasn't a jab at the US as well as Israel.

7. It's good that world leaders are condemning the massacre.
And with what our government and the MIC has done to the people of Iraq under the false pretense of war I think he was taking the opportunity to speak of that too.

This should help improve his popularity ratings as his puppet-master (Bush) leaves office.

9. if only other leaders had the nerve to speak out.
I'd be willing to bet that casualty count is WAY low. You don't throw that amount of firepower around and only end up with 680 Palestinian casualties...

27. I'm glad he said this. I, now, hope he calls on the US to do the
same in his own country. What Israel has done in Gaza, the US did in Iraq.

Oh, the irony.

I can hear Cheney now: "That Maliki is a damned ingrate." Hey Dick, whatever happened to Iraq being an "ally in the region?"

On the US payroll, 20-foot wall of their own along the Gaza south border.

Riots may change the picture there, of course.

35. Why Israel Will Lose - Again
It’s deja vu all over again. At least that’s how it always feels when Israel undertakes a major operation against the Muslim terror groups that surround it. Whether it’s Fatah or Force 17 or Hezbollah or Hamas, the story always stays the same. First, Israel appeases its terrorist enemies in order to promote peace. Next, Israel’s enemies do violence to her. Then Israel responds with sporadic outbursts of tremendous force. In response, the international community caterwauls. Finally, Israel retreats. And the cycle begins again. That’s how it has always gone for Israel. And that’s how it will go this time.

37. You'd better dig a little deeper into the cause and effect
Edited on Wed Jan-07-09 06:41 PM by ooglymoogly
aspect of Israeli massacres, slaughtering and killing Palestinians and Arabs, which happens more than I care to remember as it makes me want to vomit. The one fact you have left out of your circle of violence is that Israel is occupying lands that do not belong to it and thereby must ethically cleanse the area before it can move its people in. This has been happening for decades...This is the little fact that makes Israel's claims of victimhood false. If the shoe was in fact on the other foot my mind would be on the other foot. One thing is for certain as Sherlock would say; "Nothing is ever as it seems", especially that which propaganda would like you to believe". So dig a little deeper before these sweeping self indulgences. But you are right about one thing; Israel will lose. It will lose its world respect and its self respect, because it is in the wrong and one can never truly win by slaughtering innocent people while not even comprehending but instead justifying the ghastly horror that they are committing.
