(Senator) Cornyn: Franken has no 'legal right'
Source: Politico

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said Monday that he does not believe Democrat Al Franken has “a legal right” to claim victory in the Minnesota Senate recount.

Franken is expected to be declared the winner over incumbent Republican Sen. Norm Coleman by the state’s canvassing board Monday afternoon. But Cornyn said during an interview on Fox News that he is not yet satisfied with the recount, suggesting that some ballots may have been counted twice in Franken’s favor while other ballots were incorrectly thrown out.

“There are a lot of questions about double-counted ballots, about absentee ballots that likely favor Norm Coleman that were refused to be counted by the canvassing board,” Cornyn said. “I do not think Al Franken will have a legal right to claim that Senate seat until all the votes are properly counted.”

“It is a matter of equal justice,” he added. “Everybody's vote ought to count equally. None should be discounted in favor of others.”

1. "Everybody's vote ought to count equally. None should be discounted in favor of others.”
I assume Cornyn said the same thing in 2000?

4. Democrats should randomly select a Republican senator and then block his re-seating
Pick out some random Republican elected in 2008, then block his re-seating, until such time as Franken is seated.

6. "Everybody's vote ought to count equally"
Indeed.

Too bad Norm said to Al on Nov 5th that he should do the right thing and concede. THEN, it wasn't important to even count the votes or determine if the votes were valid. Now that has been done, the votes were counted, Normie is toast. Fuck off John, its my state, not yours.

Counting all the votes sure as hell didn't matter to them in 2000. Ironically, all legal votes were counted in the Franken/Coleman race. Fuck them. Karma is a bitch and she's only just started biting Republicans in the ass for what they've done over the past 8 years.

On edit: 8 years? I'd say twenty some odd years. Go karma, GO!!!

9. Really, what about the 5 million in 2000, 3 million in 2004, and 3.2 million in 2006 that
weren't counted? Can we go back and count them now and put Al Gore in as the 43rd. president?

http://www.buzzflash.net/story.php?id=33787

According to the Election Assistance Commission report, 82 million ballots were cast in the 2006 election, but 3.2 million (3.9%) were never counted. This is nothing new: In 2000, 5 of 110 million (4.9%)were uncounted'; in 2004, 3 of 125m (2.7%).

10. Go fuck a box turtle, John
http://www.boxturtlebulletin.com/About/AboutUs.htm

and stop pretending you or any of the other members of the modern Repug Party have ever given a shit about the "proper" counting of the votes in elections. Complaining about votes being equally counted by 'pugs is only useful if it can be used to muddy the waters of the process and drag it out. The fact that the Repugs, down to every last one, had no problem with disenfranchising thousands of voters in Florida in 2000 demonstrated just how much every vote counting matters to them. Now that a recount has actually gone forward in a transparent, proper manner the R's are suddenly "concerned" about nonexistent legitimacy "problems" with the process.

Because we sure as hell didn't count all of the votes in 2000 in 2004 there were a negative vote count that wasn't investigated. So don't give me that count all of the votes bullshit because you wasn't for it then.

24. funny how when repukes lose they are suddenly all for counting all the votes, huh?
well, that deadline has come and gone. And like someone said in this thread, perhaps mr. coleman would have been better served if he allowed ALL the votes instead of trying to bar votes.

stupid stupid stupid. Finally, intelligence wins out.

Thanks, Al!!!

oh and on mr. cornyn, shut the fuck up, will you? I have been listening to your whining ass long enough. sadly, that prick is my senator. Austin, Texas is not embarrassed by that asshole, we didn't vote for him.
