"BAGHDAD, Iraq - A roadside bomb killed a U.S. soldier Monday in central Baghdad and gunmen ambushed a car carrying American civilians south of the capital, killing one and wounding three others, the U.S. military said.

Another American soldier was wounded in the Baghdad attack, which occurred about 9:20 a.m. The victims were part of a three-vehicle military police patrol from the 1st Armored Division, which is due to leave Iraq (news - web sites) in the coming weeks and be replaced by the 1st Cavalry Division."
