1. This sucks!
If I had a family member or friend over there, I would be freaking out...

There is NO PLAN. Now they are talking about changing the "post-war administration" yet again. NO F**KING PLAN, what did they think??

(Oh, yes, they though that the "liberated" Iraqi people would cheer the soldiers and wave to the Halliburton workers as they "rebuilt" their country...)

4. So what is that? Ten soldiers that have been killed since...

ookie and kookie were killed.

Seems to me this could ruin a soldier's morale more than anything the Doctor could ever say. But of course soon they'll be saying his remarks are what caused all these killings...

3. One U.S. Marine Killed, One Wounded in Iraq Attack
BTW, that's makes it 5 KIA and 10 wounded in a 24-hour period.

One U.S. Marine Killed, One Wounded in Iraq Attack
Sun July 27, 2003 02:42 AM ET

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - One U.S. Marine was killed and another wounded in a grenade attack in Iraq on Sunday, the U.S. military said, bringing to five the number of American soldiers killed in the last 24 hours.
A military spokesman said the attack happened in the early hours of Sunday, and involved troops from the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. The spokesman had no details on the location of the attack.

On Saturday, three U.S. soldiers were killed when a grenade was thrown at them as they guarded a children's hospital in Baquba, north of Baghdad, and one soldier was killed in an attack on a convoy in Abu Ghraib, on the capital's outskirts.

Guerrilla attacks on U.S. forces have killed 49 U.S. soldiers since Washington declared major combat over on May 1.

Ten have died since U.S. forces killed Saddam's sons Uday and Qusay on Tuesday in what American officials hoped would prove a devastating blow to the morale of Iraqi guerrillas prowling the "Sunni triangle" west and north of Baghdad.

5. I would like to see the tally of wounded also
I would like to know how many amputees and para/quadrapalegics Bushco is sending to our stateside hospitals. Usually you don't hear about them or see them until a few years later when they are alcoholic/drug dependant and begging on corners or committing suicide from PTSD.

7. You bet!
The dead are dead, but the wounded will be with us for years to come. I have a friend that was in the first Gulf War and she has had nothing but health problems since then. She was nowhere near the chem munition bunkers we destroyed.

There are a lot of contaminants in Iraq!

24. Ever hear of depleted uranium
It's radioactive, deadly, burns and turns into a powder unpon impact, covers a lot of our ammo, and is being used in this "Gulf War" even more than the first. That's why our first veterans got so sick and this batch will be worse. I just wonder what it's done to the people of Iraq. Wish we got some reporting on civilian casualties of W's excuse to strutt, hurt people and enrich his cronies.

11. This lack of acknowledgment by our own govt...
Edited on Sun Jul-27-03 02:37 AM by theHandpuppet
... is an insult to those wounded who may return to us with lifelong disabilities and/or disfigurements. If you aren't Jessica Lynch the media isn't interested, and the Bushreich would rather the public not know what truly bloody cost is being paid for Dubya's oil folly -- whether it's Iraqi blood or that of our own troops.

Maybe it's time one of those "embeds" did a tour of the military hospital. Guess they're too busy giving us robotic reports of how grateful the "average Iraqi citizens" are that we invaded their country, killed thousands upon thousands of their people (including innocent civilians and children), and left their nation in ruins.

How about visiting with the families of the dead???

How about attending a military funeral????

And how about doing it with the cameras rolling????

Answer: they won't.

Despite all their strut-about-war-pig attitudes, the Chimperial Cabal are ALL fucking cowards and will never face the families they have destroyed in their Great Patrotic Criminal War.

16. Yep
And then our society blames the soldiers for their problems. Well, if you had never started drinking/taking drugs, you never would have had these problems, you know.

Never mind the horrors they saw in battle that these armchair QBs can't even imagine. Never mind the lack of adequate medical care for the troops (both mental and physical). Never mind the lack of support systems for so many of them. Never mind the lack of housing and/or jobs for many returning vets. Never mind the stress that the families face, and the many types of guilt felt by the vets.

It's all their fault, by God, for being weak and falling prey to those devil drugs. :eyes:

29. No tally, but Max Cleland mentioned them on Friday
in his fired-up interview on PBS' NOW with Bill Moyers.

Cleland, after being asked if his critical view of the timing of the release of 911 report was "sour grapes" replied that no, it was not.

It was, instead, his belief that this was the new Vietnam--he said he'd been to Bethesda, to meet the boys returning from Iraq with missing legs and arms--and this was too similar to 35 years ago.

Cleland ought to know--he sports two less legs and one less arm as a result of his "hard-chargin'" days in Vietnam.

6. George, they are bringing it.
With or without the Hussein boys, they are "Bringing it on" I am just wondering if they are thinking that taking out a trophy of thier own would be good, maybe someone like Bremmer or a general. That would wake a lot of people up to their cause and it would really demoarlize the troops there. That would be an effect for them that would be irreplaceable. I am not saying I think any more killing should go on, I am just wondering if they are thinking this over there. I think because of cultural values, which the U.S. does not seem to be taking into account, would say that this should be done. You desacrate one of ours and display it on T.V. and newspaper, we do the same to you. Do you remember how outraged people were when the soldiers in Somolia were drug thru the street? I bet the Iraqis are feeling the same right now. What are we going to do, invade their country again? They have nothing to lose by doing this. I just have the feeling this will happen.

12. BBC: Iraq attacks kill five US troops 7/27/03, 06:40 GMT 07:40 UK
Last Updated: Sunday, 27 July, 2003, 06:40 GMT 07:40 UK
Iraq attacks kill five US troops

A US Marine has been killed in another grenade attack in Iraq, bringing to five the number of US troops killed in the past 24 hours.

The attack on Sunday, south of Baghdad, targeted soldiers from the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, a US military spokesman said.

On Saturday, three soldiers were killed and four wounded when they came under grenade attack while guarding a children's hospital in Baqubah, northeast of Baghdad.

Later, another soldier was killed and two wounded when their convoy was attacked with small arms, rocket-propelled grenades and possibly also an improvised explosive device in the Abu Ghuraib district of the capital.

Those killed in the Baqubah attack were from the 4th Infantry Division, which was involved in an operation on Thursday against Iraqis suspected of being Saddam Hussein's bodyguards.

They said something about makeshift morgues and it had 500 bodies in each one.

How many people are dead? I don't think that we will even know the truth.

26. Deaths up 30% since "Bring 'Em On" !!!!
According to the "Coalition Deaths" website,
the dead were averaging about one a day from the
Saddam Statue photo-op to the Top Gun photo-op.
Since then, by their reckoning, the rate has increased,
up to 1.35 per day. But I did a little reckoning of my own.

If you count the deaths from the Top Gun photo-op to
the "Bring 'Em On" soundbite, they average out to 1.25
per day. Since he uttered those words, the dead bodies
(both US and British) have been stacking up at the rate of
1.6 per day. That's an increase of just under 30%!!!

Hey, Democrats, how about some TV das driving this fact
home. No worse than what the GOP did to Cleland...

27. The Corporate Owned Media will not tell the truth
They have too much invested in this War. They bought their props, paid for uniforms for their staff to wear in front of the camera over in Iraq and they also paid their staff to look the other way when atrocities happen.

The deserter-in-chief is calling on all of his experiences gained in Vietnam as he leads the world to freedom, even for those who would hate us because we buy houses.

The adults are truly in charge now. Never fear.
