Former "Nanny" Star Fran Drescher Wants To Take Hillary Rodham's Senatorial Job
Source: AHN

Washington, DC (CNS) - Former "The Nanny" star Fran Drescher wants to replace soon-to-be Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the Senate. The 51-year-old actress insists she's qualified for the position.

However, Drescher says she wants the job and she has the required qualities to be a senator as she's an "authentic and honest person."

NY Mag quotes the cancer survivor actress as saying, "I've been very successful in getting a bill passed in Washington. I was thinking I'd take the next four years to lay some groundwork, but I'm throwing my hat in the ring."

57. I saw Fran on The View once discussing, of all things, her online dating habits
yes, The Voice is faked. Her true and actual voice, while still a "shtrong" Queens accent, lacks the fingernails-on-blackboard quality of her stage voice.

Speaking of which, like I mentioned, she was trolling for dudes online (!), and one of them asked to speak to her on the phone. Why? You might well ask. He said, "I just want to make sure you don't sound like Fran Drescher or something..."

6. That's cool, celebrity wise Fran Drescher is almost as worthy as Caroline Kennedy.
:eyes:

How 'bout we, the people, BREAK from "celebrity lust" and/or go nuts for "cults of personality?"

Here's a radical idea, WHY doesn't Patterson select a person who's THE MOST QUALIFIED for the Senate of NY?

Or does a Senator of NY State have to now first qualify as "a celebrity" as is seemingly required for the Governorship of California?

7. In New York?!?! You've got to be kidding...
Of course, if all things were equal, giving a "no name" genuinely qualified person a shot by being appointed would help that person selected in the general election after the appointment. But in the real world, name recognition and muko bucks are the main qualifies in operation, especially in big time politics in New York, unfortunately. That would not only preclude a person sole based on qualifications alone, but unfortunately would also preclude anybody NOT from the NYC area - hence upstate - and especially Western New York - will likely get screwed - again - and will be locked out of the New York power structure.

And that's a shame for an area that has virtually NO effectuve representation in State government for a LONG time now...

The current gov is an anomaly foisted upon us by some very dishonest Repbulicans. I'd hardly say that being "a celebrity" is a requirement.

Jerk.

45. Well, let's see - Caroline Kennedy -
after finishing college, she interned with her uncle, Ted Kennedy, then went to work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. That's where I know her from. She is a lawyer with 2 publications on civil liberties to her credit. She is president of the Kennedy Library Foundation and has worked extensively with the New York City Public Schools, first as chief executive of the Office of Strategic Partnerships for the NYC Dept. of Education and now as Vice Chair of The Fund for Public Schools. Additionally she has represented the Kennedy family at any number of official functions. She is very intelligent, passionate about civil liberties and the Constitution and knows her way around the American power structure. To me that makes her a very attractive candidate for the position of New York's junior senator.

years, including a couple at the Metropolitan Museum of Art when Caroline Kennedy was there. She really is a very genuine and thoughtful individual, who will be an asset in the Senate, should Gov. Patterson decide to appoint her to serve out Hilary Clinton's term.

51. The NY part wasn't about Caroline Kennedy
There have been some other folks in that seat who have pretended to be from New York in that seat.

Most of her "qualifications" for the job simply come with the territory for someone who is a child of great privilege. even so, I cannot imagine anyone else so lightly qualified being appointed to such a seat, without dynastic connections. It's not an entry level job--I thin John Edwards proved that quite nicely.

From all accounts, she's a rather private person with something of a distaste for the rough and tumble of political life. Not a particularly good qualification for someone to fill that seat. If it had to be a Kennedy, I like her cousin better.
