Wesley Clark to endorse Democratic front-runner John Kerry

(02-12) 11:35 PST WASHINGTON (AP) --

Wesley Clark, who abandoned his bid for the presidency, plans to endorse Democrat John Kerry, according to Democratic officials.

Clark spokesman Matt Bennett would not confirm the endorsement, but said, "Gen. Clark is looking forward to going to Wisconsin to be with Sen. Kerry" on Friday.

Officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the retired Army general would make a formal endorsement at a campaign stop in Wisconsin, which holds its primary Tuesday.....

13. Not only that - Drudge had "Clark to endorse Kerry"
right below his "expose" where Clark was supposedly talking about "Kerry's intern problem." Do you suppose Drudge even reads the stuff he posts on his site? It is hard to believe that Clark would be endorsing Kerry several days after he told reporters about a "Kerry intern problem."

2. General Clark is a team player
I am not ready to endorse Kerry yet (I vote on March 9th), and I am still undecided between Kerry and Edwards. This shows that General Clark is a team player and a man of integrity.

5. Hmmmm...
" a man of integrity". I would probably wait to see how this intern thing plays out, before I claimed that. I'd be pissed if my candidate endorsed Kerry today of all days.

14. Well, since Clark was supposedly the source of the "intern thing"
I guess it is safe to say that Drudge may not have gotten this one right. Imagine that.

seeing as the only source for this so-called "scandal" and the supposed Clark connection is a professional right wing muck-raker and smearer I'd say its way to early to think that there is anything to "play out".

3. Well ..

It looks like it will be Kerry/Edwards.

It's a pretty good ticket for taking down Bush. Though, I would have preferred to see Clark as the nominee.

I hope that General Clark pursues a Senate seat. He's a great leader and our country needs men of his caliber.

4. no, he should run for Governor of Ark.
Arkansas has two fine senators already. I hear Gov. Huckabee is running out of gas as goes his popularity.

7. Great Solution
Love to have Clark as governor of Arkansas - one less seat of power for the Repugs.

15. Two problems
1. There aren't any senate seats immediatly available in Arkansas, with Pryor and Lincoln (both of whom endorsed Clark, btw)

2. Clark seems more like an executive type fellow than someone cut out for a deliberative body like the Senate. He might be effective as a Governor, or perhaps more likely, as Secretary of State or Chief of Staff in a Democratic Administration.

6. But...
I thought Clark said that Kerry would "implode" because of the silly girlfriend story. That's what Drudge said, and Drudge has always been accurate. Right?

10. Good for Clark ...
... I have always liked him. And this story is just Drudge bullshit. Good for Clark coming to Kerry's defense. Kerry is a good man and I will proudly support him if he is the nominee.

17. LET THE BRASS TARNISH
I get uncomfortable with all these "military heroes" running for office. As flawed a set of human beings as they are, the best thing that can be said about either John Kerry or Bill Clinton is their opposition to the war in Southeast Asia. I have nothing against using Bush's bogus National Guard record against him. But I had friends on the left who joined the guard to escape service in Nam, too. Clark, however--like John McCain--is a different story.

18. What would you prefer?
I am happy with anyone that runs or is opposed to * and cabal. Are you running for some political office? Some of the bunch that's in there now need replaced, wouldn't you say?

Especially when they will be running against a frat boy who kept his nose full of cocaine and his sidekick Cheney who say he had better things to do during the Vietnam War. Like racking up 3 DUI's.
