Albany HeraldALBANY — Area election supervisors know the heavy 75-80 percent turnout day of the Nov. 4 election likely won’t be repeated, but early voting in the Dec. 2 runoff elections starts this week.
Early voting at the Dougherty Elections office, Room 220 at 222 Pine Avenue, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays Tuesday through Nov. 26.
Anyone who requested to receive all absentee ballots by mail will be mailed one, and poll workers are readying for their return to Dougherty’s voting precincts on Dec. 2, Hatcher said.
Georgia voters will decide three statewide runoff races — U.S. Senate, between incumbent Saxby Chambliss, R-Moultrie, and Jim Martin, D-Atlanta; Public Service Commission, between Democrat Jim Powell and Republican Lauren McDonald, and the nonpartisan Georgia Court of Appeals, between Sara Doyle and Mike Sheffield.
. . .
Certifying the results of the Nov. 4 election Thursday, Secretary of State Karen Handel said counties should be prepared to offer early voting for the runoff starting Monday, but several area counties weren’t sure they’d be able to complete logic and accuracy testing on voting machines quite that soon.

On the Appeals Judges, Sara Doyle appears to be a liberal while Mike Sheffield is considered a conservative.
