Joe ("the non Plumber") a No-Show in Ohio (ditches McCain @ rally)
Source: WashTimes

DEFIANCE, Ohio -- Sen. John McCain, running through Ohio on a daylong bus tour, introduced Joe the Plumber at his first stop of the morning at an outdoor rally in this tiny town not far from where Joe Wurzelbacher confronted Sen. Barack Obama about his tax plan.

"Joe's with us today. Joe, where are you? Where is Joe? Is Joe here with us today?"

The problem? Joe wasn't here.

McCain aides scrambled; one ran past reporters in one direction, then back in the other, talking frantically into her portable radio. Reporters streamed up to other aides asking if the world's most famous plumber was indeed here.

"Joe, I thought you were here today," McCain said as the crowd murmured. After half a minute of silence, as everyone in the crowd scanned for Joe, McCain tried to make the best of it. "All right, well, you're all Joe the Plumber so all of you stand up and say -- I thank you," he said as the crowd applauded.

Afterward, one McCain aide sought to downplay the misstep. "It was a metaphor; they're all Joe the Plumber."

But reporters weren't buying it. "This is going to make every network news channel tonight," one said a few minutes after the goof. Another joked: "Are you kidding? It's already got 100,000 hits on YouTube

How is it that rightwingers aren't embarrassed by their idiocy?

Is it that you're too dumb to know that most people see right through RW spew? So you just vomit it out like a dittohead, thinking others will lap it up as well? Is that it?

Read something other than rightwing lies, moran.

31. You do know that McCain was the one who admitted,
on national TV no less, that it was HE who had made Joe's life a goldfish bowl? Obama calmly and sincerely answered the man's question and thought that was the end of it. It was McCain that mentioned Joe 21 times in the next debate and has subsequently made him a centerpiece of his campaign.

As for the liberal press, all sides except the right wing recognize it was their job to see how much of Joe's story was accurate; it turns out not much. That you can't see the brutal irony of the fact that Joe would actually be helped by Obama's plan both in his true identity AND the one he made up, means you are a true believer.

38. Since you are opposed to socialism
I hope you don't plan on driving on public roads, sending your children to public schools, eating safe food, collecting Social Security when you retire, using Medicare, or taking advantage of a whole host of other "socialist" programs.

Here's a clue for the grossly uninformed: there has been a massive redistribution of wealth over the last 8 years, but it has been all upward.

41. How are tax cuts for the middle class socialism?
The top 1% has had tax cuts for the last 8 years. Why isn't that called socialism? Sounds like you're waging class warfare against the middle class in this country.

Let's face it, tax cuts for the top 1% did nothing for the economy. If we keep doing what we've always done, we shouldn't be surprised when we get the same result. It's time to try a different approach. Give the middle class a chance to help the economy. Stop all this socialist crap. It's nothing but an attempt at a scare tactic in hopes of turning the middle class against their own best interest.

Try the Obama Biden tax calculator as a starting point:

95. Actually, they already have a word for the top 1% -- Oligarchy
You see, Oligarchism is a good thing for the rich and powerful at the top, so they defend their word feverishly through expensive lobbying efforts, rewriting history books, and not teaching the word in school.

Socialism is promoted vociferously in the same context as Communisim, so it gets a bad rap. It's kinda like the difference between using the Politicallay incorrect word "Bitch" and using the well accepted, "I'm just kidding" "Beeyatch".

See how acceptable one is over the other?

The Oligarch are running scared right now, and they are dependent on poorly educated people to link Socialism to bad things.

The McCain campaign is finding out what pure selfishness and self aggrandizement does on their own circle. First, Palin using McCain for her own ends, and now Joe, using it to have his own Joey Buttafuoco-like career trajectory.

68. The backstory is almost as funny...
from CNN:

A campaign aide later said Wurzelbacher had "decided not to come" and may join McCain later in the day.

But reached at his home by CNN's Mary Snow, Wurzelbacher said it was "news to him" that he was supposed to be at the McCain rally. Wurzelbacher said nobody from the McCain campaign confirmed he was attending the event and called the incident a "miscommunication."

Wurzelbacher also said he is headed to Philadelphia for a charity event unrelated to the campaign and has no plans to meet up with McCain today.

73. McCain slammed his staff afterwards, once being shown where they were at...
John said, 'don't you understand that's the only gimmick we got left without outright calling Obama an anti-American terrorist! what the hell do we pay you people for - get an actor that looks like him if you have to, shit, shave Todd Palin's head and stick him out here, he doesn't do anything else but eat all the buffet food every day and I'm sick and tired of him saying "hey dude" to me all the time, he gives me the creeps, like he wants me gone!'

Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 12:51 PM by Forrest Greene
That distinction belongs to Jason Hawes & Grant Wilson.

(ETA "Most.")

no one calls him MR. Plumber. He's just plain inefficient and ineffective Joe Plumber. Not even a good generic knock-off.

Maybe "Joe" got the idea from Obama's reference to McCain wanting to help "Joe the Hedge Fund Manager."

I mean, why earn money when you can steal it?

How does a plumber work from home? I know. Maybe his home is waste-transfer station? Yeah, that's the ticket.
