Sen. Bond Warns Palin Crowd That Obama Wants Judges Who Empathize With “The Gay”

(CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO.) - Taking the stage as one of the pre-program speakers at a Sarah Palin rally here in Rush Limbaugh’s hometown, Sen. Kit Bond, R-Missouri, fired up the crowd by warning them about Barack Obama’s judicial philosophy.

“Just this past week, we saw what Barack Obama said about judges,” Bond said. “He said, ‘I’m tired of these judges who want to follow what the Founding Fathers said and the Constitution. I want judges who have a heart, have an empathy for the teenage mom, the minority, the gay, the disabled. We want them to show empathy. We want them to show compassion.’”

Bond then seized on Obama’s comments to Joe The Plumber, saying the Democrat wants to redistribute wealth.

“He thinks this country should be a government—not a government of laws, but a government of compassion and empathy, not of laws,” Bond said.

Bond was referring to Obama's answer to "Joe the Plumber's" question earlier this month "Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?"

As for the Founders, the closest they got to saying anything about "the gay" was in the Declaration of Independence: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness....

They love to clump wide swaths of people into a single group that they can hate, epitomized by a single person. It used to be "the Jew" usually accompanied by a caricture of a Hasidic Jew with a lot of warts.

6. Pubs act they are the party of strength
...yet they are all afraid of gay people! I think the reason they are so afraid is that they cannot hurt gays by lying, and that seems to be their best strategic modus operandi. All they have accomplished is to keep their base (those who believe everything they are told) afraid, and it looks like they are losing ground there too.

Stone the kids to death for looking at their father cross-eyed, kill all the non-believers down to the last animal passages. Which is funny because they don't adhere to any of the Mosaic dietary laws or ritual purity laws. I wonder how many have chowed down on a double bacon cheeseburger lately?

They completely ignore the New Testament - He who is without sin cast the first stone, judge not lest ye be judged, love thy neighbor as thyself, remove the plank from your own eye before trying to remove the mote in your brothers eye, and my personal favorite - don't make a big display out of your faith for all others to see. The hypocrisy is so blatant I don't see how their heads cannot explode.

E.g. this from 'Proverbs' (6)

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief. A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.



If THAT isn't a description of the Bushies, I don't know what is.

From where I sit, they're the sort of folks who'd trespass into your back yard to steal the sheets off your line and the wood off the side of your shed to go burn a cross in the yard of someone they don't know and beat them with a Bible they don't read. Look up the word Pharisee and you'll see a group photo, complete with a dead caribou in front.

Is it really desirable to have a government, the greatest reflection of society, that does not reflect compassion and empathy? It appears that Republicans want a nation of a-holes who treat everyone else like shit. No aid for the poor. No health care for the sick. Torture for their enemies. Bombs for those who oppose them.

I am so fucking tired of small minded people. Intellectually I know that they suffer from deep seated fears of the unknown. This affliction has to strip almost every bit of joy from their life and I should pity them for that. But emotionally they just sicken me and I just want them to GO AWAY! Please just fucking go away - leave us good people alone. Quit trying to spread your misery to the rest of the world. Lets us live in peace. We are fucking tired of your shit.

I'm not religious, but it seems to me that there are quite a few things in the Bible that condemns such an attitude most strongly. Far more, in fact, than about abortion or homosexuality.

I want judges who have a heart, have an empathy for the teenage mom, the minority, the gay, the disabled.’ … He thinks this country should be a government—not a government of laws, but a government of compassion and empathy, not of laws.

In fact, in discussing judicial nominations, Obama’s references to “empathy” only suggest that he would seek individuals who were not tainted by the “culture wars” of the 1990s:

We need somebody who’s got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it’s like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it’s like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. … I am absolutely convinced that Culture Wars are just so ’90s. Their days are growing dark.
