A win for purged voters(Colorado)
Source: Denver Post

Groups, state agree on process to tally, screen provisional ballots of those dropped from rolls

The Denver Post
Voters purged in Colorado, other key statesVoters purged in Colorado, other key statesBallots cast by voters who have been canceled from the state's voter rolls since mid-May will get extra oversight to make sure their votes are counted, under an agreement reached late Wednesday in U.S. District Court.

Common Cause of Colorado, Mi Familia Vota Education Fund and the Service Employees International Union sued Colorado Secretary of State Mike Coffman, alleging that his office had violated the National Voter Registration Act by illegally purging about 31,000 eligible voters from the rolls 90 days before the election.

The state insists the actual number is smaller.

The plaintiffs had asked Senior U.S. District Judge John L. Kane Jr. for a preliminary injunction that by Tuesday would reinstate voters who had been removed from the rolls. They also asked Kane to order the state to stop removing people until after the election.

2. that lying SOB (SOS) Coffman is probably going to win Congressional
seat... but at least we won't have to deal with another lying, thieving, SOB REPUG trying to rig Coloradao's elections...

In 2004, I expressed all the (considerable) knowledge and concerns to Denver Elections Commissioner Susan Rogers, who I ran into during early voting. She was positively clueless and denying that Coffman's predecessor, DOnetta Davidson was "beyond reproach." She then went on to scold me for such suggestions...:eyes: Well, Ms. Rogers and all her ilck were tossed out when Denver voters voted to get rid of the elections commission after the debacle in 2006... So, I've seen some Karma come around.....

3. good news. However...
In Ohio in 2004, many voters who had some problem with their registration cast provisional ballots. Good, right? Well, on election day, the Republicans on the board of elections in my county and others simply chose not to count provisionals from districts that were likely to lean Democratic. The equal number of Dems on the BoE opted to count the votes. So who was the tie-breaker? The Republican Secretary of State and Bush campaign officer. Thousands of votes were not even assessed as to their validity, just rejected because of where they were cast.

So this is good news about CO, but Colorado citizens and principled officials have to be sure this is not a scam to placate us do-gooders, but one that doesn't really take away the SOS's power to arbitrarily deny voters' rights.

10. That is exactly what happened in Al.
Repug gov took over the Sec. of State functions when DOJ trumped up some excuse for the Sec. of State ( a Dem) to step aside, just prior to election.

8. The state insists the actual number is smaller.
Oh....what? 30,995, not 31,000?

What kind of argument is that????? If they mean smaller is 0, then they might have a point. Sheesh!

12. That is not really a win!
they still have to vote on provisional ballots and they won't even get looked at until the day after election day. by then the media will have declared a winner.

provisional ballots are not a solution

16. VERY IMPORTANT if you're in CO or can go there
The process of deciding which provisional ballots to count is one where monitoring can really be effective. Monitors at county election offices watching this process may prevent discriminatory treatment of voters by those deciding which ballots will be counted. I encourage people to find or form small groups of people to work with to coordinate monitoring these efforts. If you're busy working for Obama before election day, this is what you can do after! And do it even if he's declared the winner, because it's important that he get his full mandate AND that ALL races, not just the presidential race, have the correct outcomes!

17. They should not have agreed: The purge should not allow them to be on
provisional ballots.

This was stupid. This was a loss.

Don't let the GOP tell you you've won after they steal your vote, and don't let this become past prescident.

Insist that you be allowed to vote.

If I were there, I'd start my own lawsuit.
