US Syrian embassy 'may be shut'

The US embassy in Damascus has warned it may close to the public in the wake of a US raid on Sunday that Syria says killed eight people.

The embassy said it could be closed for an "unspecified period" due to "unforeseen circumstances or events".

Syria has protested to the UN about the attack, which unnamed US officials have said killed a top al-Qaeda figure.

Meanwhile a US school and cultural centre were continuing to operate a day after Damascus ordered them to shut.

The two institutions said they had not been officially notified of the closures.

Syrian riot police form ring around US Embassy

By BASSEM MROUE, Associated Press Writer

DAMASCUS, Syria – Hundreds of Syrian riot police
ringed the closed U.S. Embassy here Thursday as tens
of thousands of people gathered about a mile away for
a government-orchestrated protest to denounce a deadly
U.S. raid near the Iraqi border.

The troops, wearing helmets and armed with batons and
shields, took up positions around the embassy and the
adjacent U.S. residence building. The embassy was
closed because of security concerns related to the
protest, and the American school in Damascus was also
shut for the day.

Thursday's protest came as Syria demanded a formal
apology from the U.S. for Sunday's attack in the
eastern border community of Abu Kamal that Damascus
says killed eight civilians. It threatened to cut off
cooperation on Iraqi border security if there are more
American raids on Syria territory.

In announcing its closure Thursday, the U.S. Embassy
also warned Americans to be vigilant — raising concerns
about the safety of U.S. citizens in Syria.

4. The Bush U.S. ambassador to Bolivia behaved so badly--funding and organizing
white separatists who recently rioted, machine-gunned thirty unarmed peasants, sacked government and NGO buildings, took over an airport and blew up a gas pipeline, in an effort to topple the popular (nearly 70% approval rating), democratically elected government of Evo Morales--that Morales threw the U.S. ambassador out of the country. Venezuela--a strong ally of Bolivia, which has been dealing with a similar Bushwhack plot--did the same, evicted the U.S. ambassador.

Now this--a U.S.-Bushwhack action in grave violation of yet another country's sovereignty--Syria, and the bitter souring of relations perhaps beyond repair.

We've also had reports of U.S. military raids on Pakistan, a purported ally. And every other day there seems to be another report of civilians killed by U.S. bombing raids in Afghanistan. The Bush-installed Karzai regime has become so desperate that it is now in talks with the Taliban, brokered by the Saudis.

WHAT is going on here? What are the Bushwhacks up to, with these blatant actions that seem aimed at alienating other countries?

Is it just monkey-wrenching of the Obama administration--chaos-making--or is there some design at work? Add in the financial 9/11 that the Bushwhacks just inflicted on the world, and you seriously begin to wonder about treason, of a kind even graver than outing CIA agents, lying us into a horrible war, stealing elections, using the Department of Justice to prosecute Democrats and voter registration groups, and no-bid contracts for Halliburton. You begin to seriously wonder if the total destruction of the United States of America is being orchestrated from our own White House.

I have thought all along that 9/11 was the work of a small cabal within this regime, allied with some traitors in the military (with my chief candidate for head of cabal being Donald Rumsfeld). Is it worse than this? Is the entire junta deliberately, methodically, actively trying to destroy us, with items like the above--a late triggered plot to instigate civil war in Bolivia and Venezuela, and bombing Pakistan and Syria--being the final touches on some overarching scheme? Is it combined with another election coup d'etat, and installation of McBush and Ms. To Nowhere, to finally bring the nazi boot down on us? Or has that been foiled? (I tend to think it has been.)

Or--trying to read the entrails--these could also be reflex actions. They have been blatantly using the powers of the U.S. government for war profiteering, spying on everybody, blackmail, threats and torture for fun and profit. And maybe these are just the tag ends of plots that had an aim, at one time, but aren't particularly relevant now. South America is just basically holding its breath, until the Bushwhacks are out, and will proceed with repairing relations with the U.S., once Obama is in. The Middle East is a more tangled web--but the key there may be the Iraqis balking at the oil contracts and continued occupation. This was the Bushwhacks main scheme--to grab Iraq's oil and set things up so that the U.S. military will be forever ensconced there, protecting the Bushwhacks' oil contracts (not to mention their military contracts). Is their slaughter of civilians in Afghanistan, and raids into Pakistan and Syria related to this?

I don't know. I'm just saying that, for an outgoing regime, in near full disgrace in the U.S. (20% approval rating), and reviled throughout the world, they are doing so mighty odd things.
