ACORN knew of fraudulent voter registration forms, ex-employee of Project Vote says
Source: The Bellingham Herald

A former employee of an affiliate of ACORN testified Wednesday that the community group now in the national spotlight knew that most new voter registration forms it had gathered were fraudulent.

"Forty percent was OK," said Anita Moncrief, referring to the number of bona fide registrations that officials at the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now believed was acceptable.

24. Wow. I've never received a response to a posting like this. I simply...
I simply posted some current news on our discussion board so we could discuss.
I too feel this is the Republicans "grasping at straws" or trying to stir up anything to make Obama look bad.
Obama has my vote and have felt more confident in my choice by being active on this forum.
Just posted it to get other views.

9. You understand of course..
... that Acorn would be VIOLATING THE LAW if they did not turn in EVERY APPLICATION THEY RECEIVED, regardless of their judgement on the veracity of the information on it? You DID know that didn't you?

It is up to election official to validate the application.

Now thanks for your uh... help.

14. 'A former employee of an affiliate of ACORN' whose best friends brother
was a roady for the Grateful Dead, said that 40 percent was okay.
Hard to doubt the word of someone like that.
My thought was why is she a former employee?
Did she have to go back to the RNC to get new orders?

25. She's a former employee because she stole from them.
From the original story:
"Moncrief was fired in January after using a Project Vote credit card to pay for personal items."
Sounds like a paragon of honesty. I have to wonder how much the state Republicans are paying her for her testimony.

From the same story, she also testified that when Acorn discovered employees committing fraud, it fired them, but she described it as "threw them under the bus", as if Acorn were doing something wrong.

She's a larcenous, lying little witch who thinks she is justified in retaliating against a former employer that didn't just accept being stolen from. Apparently she couldn't care less about the collateral damage to the people Acorn would be helping to get registration problems rectified if they weren't having to divert resources to the court case.

19. That 40% number is absurd. And Acorn had to submit all forms
by law, even if they knew they were impossible, but they took the extra step of bundling obvious phonies separately and labeling them as "suspect". The 40% may have referred to the percentage that would be allowed to vote after "exact match" laws in some states, and forms that were not completely or correctly filled out, were eliminated in areas w/ unsympathetic Republican SOS's and/or county commissioners. Places with Dems in charge generally made the extra effort to contact the registrants and get missing info or sent them new forms and instructions if the applications were spoiled.

Acorn leaders saying that they thought that 40% of the registration applications would be allowed to vote, and that that was okay, is definitely not the same as saying that they thought that 60% of the registration forms were intentionally fraudulent. Moncrief (whoever she is) probably misunderstood something she heard one official saying to another in passing. Or the reporter got it wrong.

To tell the truth, I resent seeing this issue on a Democratic board, which is unlikely to result in a single fraudulent vote and is an intentional misdirection of attention from real electoral fraud, like caging people whose homes have been foreclosed on.

28. Fired woman: ACORN training for canvassers weak (Philly Inquirer)
PETER JACKSON
The Associated Press

HARRISBURG, Pa. - ... Anita Moncrief .. was vague on many details during her nearly two hours on the witness stand in Commonwealth Court.

On cross-examination, she admitted that she had never visited ACORN's Pennsylvania operation , the ostensible focus of the hearing , and was not familiar with the state's voter-registration laws.

Moncrief, 29, also acknowledged that she had been fired from Project Vote in January for using its credit card to cover as much as $3,000 in personal expenses.

"When they asked me about it, I lied," the Virginia resident said, calling the incident "a bad mistake" she is trying to resolve ...
