Rumors say Byrd will lose his post

Sources say that Sen. Inouye will lead the Appropriations Committee

WASHINGTON » The inside-Washington newspaper Politico, citing anonymous sources, reported yesterday that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is planning to ease U.S. Sen. Robert Byrd from the chairmanship of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee and award it to U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye of Hawaii.

Byrd, D-W.Va., the elderly and embattled Democratic Appropriations panel chairman, criticized Reid, D-Nev., yesterday over the news account.

Reid spokesman Jim Manley said: "Unless something changes, Senator Byrd will continue to be chairman of the Appropriations Committee."

Personally, I think Senator Inouye is about as corrupt as Ted Stevens and if this rumor is true, then this is proof that Harry Reid is nothing more than a corrupt enabler.

3. I think his mind is going.
It takes him 30 minutes to say one sentence, and he'll end up crying every time.

16. Byrd was the picture of passion and courage. Reid, not
I won't forget it either. So many weak leaders failed us then. Byrd stood strong.

10. Reid needs to go. Byrd can stay.
Inouye - there has to be someone better.

I despise the way Reid and Inouye vote.

Byrd - will be more appreciated by the youth within a few years.

11. Dump Reid first
He is the WORST leader possible - do-nothing, cave-in-to-BushCo on demand, ineffective, DINO who should not even be considered a leader. I love Robert Byrd, but he probably does not deserve a chairmanship in his advanced years.... But Reid - dump him now!

18. Dump Reid and keep The Senator
Senator Byrd was the ONLY representative, senate or house that literally stood up for us for weeks before the vote on the IWR. He stood on the senate floor alone, speaking eloquently and passionately about his great knowledge of our Constitution and warned of the disaster a war w/Iraq would bring.

Adding insult to injury, Reid wants to appoint a DINO to Senator Byrd's chairmanship.

Reid needs to go!
