APHERSHEY, Pa. (AP) — Republican John McCain and running mate Sarah Palin are sweeping through battleground Pennsylvania as polls show them trailing the Democratic ticket, but McCain says it's wonderful to fool the pundits and is vowing to pull an upset.
McCain told supporters in Hershey, Pa., on Tuesday that, in his own words: "I'm not afraid of the fight. I'm ready for it."
The Arizona senator continued a sharp assault on Democratic rival Barack Obama during a noisy rally in Hershey.

McCain Is in Hershey but the Tone Isn’t SweetBy Michael Cooper
HERSHEY, Pa. – As Senator John McCain lit into his Democratic rival, Senator Barack Obama, at a rally here Tuesday morning, the disdain in his voice was often unmistakable.
There was the moment when he characterized Mr. Obama’s energy policy as “blah blah blah,’’ as in: “You know, when we talked about offshore drilling, he said he liked it, blah blah blah, all this, and then he said, ‘I will consider – I will consider offshore.’ We don’t need to consider, we need to drill now!” There was his suggestion that Mr. Obama’s plan to raise taxes on the wealthy to give a tax cut to the middle class would actually wind up as a tax increase on the middle class, noting that the while the campaign had said that it would benefit people making under $250,000 a year, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. had recently defined middle class people as “people making under $150,000 a year.’’

First he said people making less than $250,000 would benefit from his plan, then this weekend he announced in an ad that if you’re a family making less than $200,000 dollars you’ll benefit,” McCain said. “But yesterday, right here in Pennsylvania, Senator Biden said tax relief should only go to ‘middle class people — people making under $150,000 dollars a year.’ You getting an idea of what’s on their mind huh? A little sneak peak.”
“It’s interesting how their definition of rich has a way of creeping down. At this rate, it won’t be long before Senator Obama is right back to his vote that Americans making just $42,000 a year should get a tax increase. We can’t let that happen.’” he continued.
McCain doesn’t have it quite right, though; Biden has always said that people making under $250,000 a year would not see their taxes increase one single penny — not that they’d all receive a tax break. Instead, those tax cuts would, indeed, go to those making less than $150,000, while families making between $150,000 and $250,000 would keep the same tax rate.
