Palin: Electing Obama will be like government 'moving in'
Source: CNN

(CNN) -- GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said Saturday that electing Obama, combined with a Democratic majority in both chambers of Congress, will lead to government helping to run your family.

Palin told Iowans that under Obama's "big government agenda," their income, property and investments would be "shared with everybody else."

She labeled Obama's plan to provide tax credits to lower and middle-income wage-earners "the philosophy of government taking more, which is a misuse of the power to tax."

"It leads to government moving into the role of taking care of you, and government and politicians and, kind of moving in as the other half of your family to make decisions for you," she said, speaking in Sioux City. Fact Check: Obama's tax plan

5. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books"
Mayor Palin: A Rough Record
By Nathan Thornburgh / Wasilla, Alaska Tuesday, Sep. 02, 2008

Sarah Palin as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, in 1996

At some point in those fractious first days, Palin told the department heads they needed her permission to talk to reporters. "She put a gag order on those people, something that you'd expect to find in the big city, not here," says Naegele. "She flew in there like a big-city gal, which she's not. It was a strange time, and came out very harshly against her."

Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor.

you dipshit can't profit in a regulated system, because you suck at good business, and never had what it took to earn your way to the top. You need a deregulated system that will allow you to rip people off without there being any accountability. You aren't fooling anyone...

Funny how you care so much about making money, but don't give a damn about our freedoms and rights. You people make me sick...

Why doesn't her head spin all the way around when she's talking?

My head is about to explode.

12. Time to return to historical Republican tax rates?
The top marginal rate under the Republican Eisenhower administration was 91% on income over $400,000.

After itemizing and loopholes they actually paid 52% in 1957 according to IRS records.

Republicans of the past were apparently socialists.

PS: Sarah, please stop taking money from capitalist oil companies and distributing it to Alaskan children!

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/3/122716/897/380/618991

Alaska gets more FEDERAL money per capita than anywhere else DESPITE astounding revenues at the STATE level coming from he North Slope oil fields.

...Mayor of Wasilla Palin hired a lobbyist and got $27 million in earmarks for a town of 8,000 people.

Nonetheless, despite this unusual infusion of FEDERAL money into her small town, Palin STILL left the town in more debt than when she started by mismanaging construction of a local recreation center- beginning construction BEFORE having clear title to the land it rests on.

Which makes Palin one of the biggest pigs at the trough. Snort, baby, snort.

25. Palin warns Obama would create nanny state if elected
Source: CNN

Campaigning Saturday in Iowa, a state where polls show Barack Obama enjoying a healthy lead just 10 days before the election, Sarah Palin warned that putting Obama in the White House along with Democrats running both chambers of Congress will turn the country into a nanny state.

Palin cautioned Iowans that under Obama’s “big government agenda,” their income, property and investments would be “shared with everybody else.” She labeled Obama’s plan to provide tax credits to lower and middle-income wage-earners “the philosophy of government taking more, which is a misuse of the power to tax.”

“It leads to government moving into the role of taking care of you, and government and politicians and, kind of moving in as the other half of your family to make decisions for you,” she said. “Now they do this in other countries where the people are not free. Government as part of the family, taking care of us, making decisions for us. I don’t know what to think of having in my family Uncle Barney Frank or others to make decisions for me.” ...

This from a woman who would throw doctors and women in jail for having abortions, who would ban pornography depicting consenting adults from the internet, who wants to ban books from libraries, who would bring back "voluntary" prayer into the public schools (which would of course function as de facto mandatory prayer in the Bible Belt).

To say nothing of supporting warranties wiretapping of people's phones and computers under the auspices of going after some vague and unspecified "terrorist" threat.

There's more, but I don't have time right now.

Eight years of failed Republican policies and America sits in near ruin. I abhor the way McCain and especially this idiot bitch Palin OUTRIGHT LIE about Obama's policies and frame them as big government and socialism when, in point of fact, THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS INCREASED THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT, THE SCOPE OF GOVERNMENT INTRUSION INTO OUR EVERYDAY LIVES AND OUR HOMES, INCREASED THE DEFICIT AND NATIONAL DEBT TO RECORD LEVELS, AND MADE OUR NATION A LAUGHING STOCK AND PARIAH AROUND THE WORLD.

Yet these cynical, lying bastards have the gall to misrepresent Obama's policies and criticize him although their policies have led us to the brink we now face.

55. Palin: Obama's Tax Plans Could Mean Nightmare Communist State
Source: The Huffington Post

Sarah Palin had a few memorable moments during her campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday. But the most eye-opening of them all came, it would appear, when the Alaska Governor somehow drew a connection between Barack Obama's tax policy and an encroaching, nightmarish, communist government. The Illinois Democrat, she hysterically suggested, would, through his proposals, create a country "where the people are not free."

"See, under a big government, more tax agenda, what you thought was yours would really start belonging to somebody else, to everybody else. If you thought your income, your property, your inventory, your investments were, were yours, they would really collectively belong to everybody. Obama, Barack Obama has an ideological commitment to higher taxes, and I say this based on his record... Higher taxes, more government, misusing the power to tax leads to government moving into the role of some believing that government then has to take care of us. And government kind of moving into the role as the other half of our family, making decisions for us. Now, they do this in other countries where the people are not free. Let us fight for what is right. John McCain and I, we will put our trust in you."

That yarn goes well beyond what Palin and McCain have, to this point, been comfortable asserting: mainly that Obama is proposing economic socialism. But there are a few things to keep in mind here: the McCain-Palin ticket does not oppose a progressive tax system. In fact, back in 2000, the Arizona Republican said rich people paid more in taxes because they could afford to do so.

"I think the first people who deserve a tax cut are working Americans with children that need to educate their children," he said, "and they're the ones that I would support tax cuts for first."

61. `Hope some interviewer asks her what "Communism" means
Smart money says she has no better idea what it means than she did what "the Bush Doctrine" or "Elitist" means.

67. In what respect, Jane?
God, the woman is a walking punch line, isn't she?

I guess, though, instead of the socialistic, communistic country Obama would foist upon an unsuspecting America, Sarah Palin thinks that things are just fine the way they are, with the U.S. Treasury shoveling $750 billion down the maw of a malfeasant financial sector, without conditions, without oversight, and without asking the working people whose taxes put that money into the Treasury. I think I'd like to let "socialism" have a chance if this is the best that Palin-style capitalism can do.

66. mcC's doing the same thing,
in different words. As 'normal' repugs, they repeatedly misstate, and if said enough times, repug lie develops aura of truth.

So, as for them, its neither crazy nor stupid.

63. This speech was given by Sarah Palin: The caricature of her self
There is apparently no difference between the real Sarah Palin, and the image of jingoistic ignorance portrayed by her detractors ....

This was one of the most rambling, straying, discombobulated speeches I have ever seen from her ....

What the fuck were they thinking ?

71. A ¨Nightmare Communist State¨ implies the existence of a Dreamlike Communist State
I think Sarah is a repressed Stalinist.

¨Stalinism is the political regime named after Joseph Stalin, leader of the Soviet Union from 1929–1953. It includes an extensive use of propaganda to establish a personality cult around an absolute dictator, as well as extensive use of the secret police to maintain social submission and silence political dissent.¨

In the process of ´red baiting´, I think you have found your true self Sarah. You can come out of your Stalinist closet and get a high paying job with the American Petroleum Institute selling lies to the struggling masses.

a pre-French Revolution state. Which would be fine by me as long as she got to play the part of Marie Antoinette at the end.

72. Palin in political time warp. McCarthyism: "Lost in the Fifties Tonight"!
She has gotten by with this McCarthyesque, red-baiting talk up in Alaska because that state is in a political time warp. Think: "Lost in the Fifties Tonight!" I make this observation as someone who has spent some time visiting a close (liberal, Ivy-educated) relative living there. I have been reading Alaskan news sources and blogs for several years. The majority of voters there are poorly educated and cutoff from contact with the modern world. Someone did a survey of educational level of parents of junior high students in Wasilla. The majority of them had never finished high school! The small liberal community there talks about the hard-drinking, sex starved, oil field roughnecks who voted for Palin because: "Hell, I'd do her; I'll vote for her."

Sarah is typically drunk with power. As "mayor" she immediately ignored local govt. rules re legitimate budget expenditures. When confronted, she replied, "I'm the mayor. I can do anything I want until the courts tell me I can't." That polar bear pin she wears nearly all the time is the symbol of that whacky Alaska seccessionist party she strongly supports.

81. She's neither crazy nor stupid - she's simply vile and evil.
They are playing to the known fears of two demographics - older voters fear communism/socialism & younger voters fear Muslims and terrorists.

76. Sounds to me
like they're now letting the stupid bimbo go it alone with her own script. Sounds like they don't care anymore what comes out of her mouth and are letting her give the base what they want to hear in a last ditch effort to garner some votes. Never mind that it makes sense or not but it might convince your typical trailer park trash with an IQ of room temperature level. It certainly does'nt sound like she worked from a prepared script the way her use of the language is jumbled up,more like her own carefully thought out analysis. She can always go back into the oblivion of the far north after they lose, leaving the senile old fart to go back to the Senate with some dignity left, but only if he works hard enough after it's all over to lay most of the blame on her. Maybe that's the plan at this stage,to give her all the rope she needs to try to save reputations. It seems to me that the Republicans have made a great mistake in not only choosing her as a running mate but letting her run off at the mouth like they have.
