McCain's brother dropping out of campaign after calling 911 to complain about traffic
Source: By GILLIAN GAYNAIR | Associated Press Writer

The brother of presidential candidate Sen. John McCain said Friday he'll withdraw from campaign activities after calling 911 to complain about traffic. Joe McCain also apologized for making the call. ...

... "I did not mean to swear at the officers themselves," McCain said. If he were in their situation, "it would have really frosted me too and I absolutely understand their reaction."

After hanging up with 911, McCain said he called Alexandria Police to ask them about the traffic on the bridge and got a similar reaction.

McCain said he hasn't spoken to his brother about the incident.

"He's not going to be happy about it, I'm sure," he said.

"I feel terrible about having hurt the campaign over this incident," he said. "I won't be doing any more campaigning because of that." ...

27. It was hilarious.
Especially when they called him back and got his voicemai, confirming McCain's identity. He was also "busy doing important political things" to answer his phone.

After getting the message, he had the nerve to call them BACK and cuss the guy out AGAIN.

How old is he, 8?

GOPers really do believe all government services belong to them and are there to serve all their wants and needs.

12. The police called him back after his first call, and left a message on

his voicemail telling him that non-emergency 911 calls and abusing 911 operators was a crime in Virgina. Joe then called 911 back and complained about someone reading him the riot act. I think if an ordinary person had done that, they'd probably be in jail already.

21. Is it just me, or is there a proliferation of Joes in this election?
THAT Joe may be kicked off the campaign, but he's STILL John's brother. Nice to know that John is willing to throw family members under the bus. Frankly, I think what he did was stupid and elitist, and the moving equivalent of "Get off my lawn!", but I can't figure out why he can't be with the campaign anymore. I mean.. it's not like he.. was found to have abused his power in an elected position, or found to have violated ethics laws, or anything. Sheesh.

23. As a Retired 911 Dispatcher..
I can tell you that in 15 years I don't recall a single person who used the system to complain about being stuck in traffic. Sure, we'd get calls that didn't qualify as true "emergencies", but most people realized that tying up a 911 line jeopardizes lives and property. Only a spoiled, egocentric elitist with anger management issues could do what Joe McCain did.

Is that it once again raises the issue of temperment; that hot-headedness runs in the family. This should be another wake-up call. Do we really need someone this out of control with the fingers on the nuclear button? Joe and John not only look a lot alike, they are two peas in a pod of life.

McCain told WTOP that he thought his cell phone was on mute. "I did not mean to swear at the officers themselves,"...

You're apologising for the wrong thing, idiot. You could have been totally polite, and it would still have been a nuisance call which could cost someone their life.

44. After Joe the Plumber, Joe the Hothead?
Source: AP: Yahoo News

WASHINGTON – First there was Joe the Plumber. Is Joe the Hothead next?

Joe McCain said Friday he'll withdraw from campaign activities for his brother, GOP presidential nominee John McCain, after calling 911 to angrily complain about traffic. Joe McCain has apologized for making the call.

The candidate's younger brother, who lives in Alexandria, Va., told Washington radio station WTOP he was returning from a campaign event in Philadelphia around 2 a.m. on Oct. 18 when he got stuck in traffic on Interstate 495 at the Wilson Bridge. Police say the call was made about 1:30 a.m. Oct. 21.

Frustrated because of the traffic, Joe McCain called 911 to find out what was going on. The operator asked him to "state your emergency." "Well, it's not an emergency, but do you know why on one side at the damn drawbridge of 95 traffic is stopped for 15 minutes and yet traffic's coming the other way?" Joe McCain said...
