Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 07:28 PM by Mark E. Smith
Source: Newsweek

With less than two weeks left in the presidential contest, Barack Obama continues to hold
a commanding double-digit lead over John McCain according to the latest Newsweek Poll.
Among registered voters nationwide, Obama now leads McCain by 13 points, 53 percent
to 40 percent. Among likely voters Obama's lead is similarly strong, 53 percent to 41 percent.

The new poll suggests Obama is consolidating his support across demographic groups. He
now leads McCain in every age group, even among voters 65 and older, who choose him over
McCain 48 percent to 42 percent. He leads handily among men, 52 percent to 42 percent, and
among women, 54 percent to 39 percent. He now leads McCain by 46 percent to 44 percent
among working class whites, a dramatic reversal from April, when McCain led him in that
group 53 percent to 35 percent.

The only thing tightening now is the metaphorical election noose around the GOP's collective

3. Newsweek Poll: Obama Leads McCain by 13 Points
Source: By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

THE POLL: Newsweek poll, national presidential race among registered voters nationwide.

THE NUMBERS: Barack Obama 53 percent, John McCain 40 percent.

OF INTEREST: Obama's lead is as strong among likely voters, 53-41. Obama appears to be consolidating his support across demographic groups, leading in every age group and among men as well as women. In a reversal from April, when McCain led Obama among working-class whites 53-35, the poll found Obama with 46 percent to McCain's 44 percent. The survey also found that 62 percent now say they have a favorable view of Obama, versus 32 percent who have an unfavorable view. ...

4. Key words to watch for - "consolidating". "stable".
If you look at the graph on fivethirtyeight.com, it shows a very stable situation and a clear trend.

Not that we can stop working for a second - but this is not a bad place to be with less than two weeks left, lots of early voting (to buffer any last minute McCain bullshit)...

6. Yay!... but seriously... it is the state by state that matters now.
McCain is in serious trouble but he only needs to steal a handful of states to flip the EC. It is all about the state by state margins, GOTV, and stooping vote suppression now.
