Obama campaign seeks extra security amid threats(PA Field Offices)
Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 10:36 AM by RamboLiberal
Source: Philadelphia Daily News

After threats at several field offices around the state, Sen. Barack Obama's campaign is asking labor unions to help provide volunteer security at 27 offices between now and Election Day.

The Obama campaign has 81 offices across the state. Of the 17 in Philadelphia, they want security at six, according to an e-mail sent to union leaders.

The e-mail said there have been threats at three Philly offices. That's on top of an evacuation this week at the South Philly office after they received a threatening letter that contained a suspicious substance, which initial tests determined was sugar.

Obama spokesman Sean Smith declined to go into detail on the other threats made so far, but said that some had been just crank calls.

"It isn't unusual for a campaign to get bizarre phone calls and letters," said Smith. "Emotions can run high this time of year."

2. I'm glad he's getting protection
I'm beyond livid at the McCain-Palin campaign and their hate squads for fanning the flames.

It's NOT "just politics" to encourage and promote racism and violence.

4. This trend of violence is disgusting. Years ago Central and South
America used violence as a way to make regine changes. It looks like the repubs are not so much trying to spread democracy around the world - instead they want us to become more like those countries were years ago.

6. They are organizing a thug army in my area
ACORN! Acorn is out there and attempting to assist Obama/Biden in stealing this election. They have corrupted the registrar's office with thousands of fr audulent registrations. We are going to help CLEAN IT UP! For those who have fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected
shall never Know... Let us use this freedom to CLEAN THIS MESS UP! The Veteran's Coalition will be walking these districts to ensure valid registrations. If you don't want to see this election stolen, please join our brave men and women who will be hitting the streets to identify and document any shenannigans.

8. I do not understand what is going on with the ACORN thing but I do
think we need to worry about repubs that will not accept the results of the election. Unfortunately, they think God has promised them they will win and they will justify any kind of action both before and after the election by this attitude. They will try to start a civil war if they have to. Damn bushie and his company of thugs including McShame.

One of us signed up to find out what they were up to locally. McCain is organizing an army to go into poor communities and reduce turnout in my area and using Acorn as justification...there wasn't even anyone from ACORN getting registrations in my town that I know of or saw.

16. And, you see...
That is all about scapegoating and marginalizing the poor.

Sorry I misunderstood. Use quotes next time, wouldja, bubba? For your own sake. Around election time, back in 2004, we had some long-time correspondents here "decloak" as freeper moles and well...you get the drift. ;-)

17. I agree
and why we need volunteers watching inside the polls in the poorer districts and watching the lines and the behaviors of those standing outside.

We also need to educate those communities to call us immediately if they see any funny business in their neighborhood on election day.

Just read about an explosion at a McCamy Law Firm, and was wondering if you were in any way connected to the firm. I heard there were injuries, so was worried.:hi:

and the hatred that McCain, Palin, and their supporters have been fomenting for months WILL have consequences . . .

they're right to be worried; I am, too . . .
