Biden Not Worried About ‘Joe the Plumber’
Source: ABC News

ABC News’ Matthew Jaffe Reports: Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., said Thursday morning that the Democratic ticket is more worried about "Joe the gas station owner" than Joe the plumber because, unlike Joe Wurzelbacher, the plumber who stole the show at Wednesday's presidential debate, most "Joes" are not making $250,000 a year.

"We're worried about Joe the guy who owns the gas station, the barber, the grocer," the Democratic vice-presidential nominee told Good Morning America's Diane Sawyer. "Ninety-eight percent of the small business people in America make less than $250,000 a year, and they're going to get a real break under our plan. Joe the plumber, whose making over $250,000, is not going to get any more additional tax cuts with us."

1. Most small business owners are lucky to clear $50,000
Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 04:57 PM by Warpy
and I'm talking about labor intensive small businesses like neighborhood restaurants, retail shops, niche groceries, and auto repair shops.

Joe doesn't even have a license. He owns a big plumbing company. He never dirties his hands and employs the plumbers who do for a fraction of what he charges for labor.

Joe the plumber, my ass. Joe the boss is more like it.

4. joe, the plumber licensee?
i did some research. in ohio, you must have a plumber's license. you can work on the side unlicensed. this is probably what joe does. so no license. joe does not own any business. in order for him to purchase a plumbing business, he needs a contractor's license. joe is a planted phony and will back fire on mc crab

2. He is not making $250 000!
And he won't be making that much even if he buys a business for $250 000.
The guy doesn't have a clue about the difference between income and business revenue or profit for that matter.

8. Stroller's Weekly Alaska on Palin
Cold, gray, rain laden weather buffeted Alaska’s capitol city from the north and the ensuing downpour wasn’t fair to look out upon nor loiter around in. Likewise, the political winds swirling around Governor Sarah the past few weeks have engendered a similar response.

The gale force winds of Presidential politics gathered around the issuance last Friday of the Legislative Council’s investigative report finding Governor Sarah violated the state’s Executive Ethics Act and abused the power of her office in pursuing her family’s vendetta against her ex-brother-in-law, Alaska State Trooper Mike Wooten.

Governor Sarah, who, for seven months, has vehemently denied any wrong doing, insisted the report completely exonerates her.

“No unlawful or unethical activity on my part. There was no abuse of authority at all in trying to get Officer Wooten fired.”

“I’m thankful that the report has shown that there was no illegal or unethical activity there in my choice to replace our commissioner,” she said. “A partisan kind of process that had been undertaken by some of the legislators who haven’t been real happy with anything that I’ve done along the way as governor, that process is now over, with that finding that I haven’t done anything unlawful in replacing the commissioner.”

10. McCain just said again, on Letterman, that 50% of small businesses earn over $250k
So what's the reality? What defines a small business?
