Radio host says local GOP leader should quit
Source: The Sacramento Bee

Published: Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008

After gaining dubious national attention for its Web site that smeared Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, the Sacramento Republican Party not only removed the racially insensitive material but also sent visitors to an alternate Web site.

Early today, Internet users were re-directed to a Web site hosted by Republicans of River City.

The material that linked Sen. Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden and suggested waterboard torture for the Illinois Democrat no longer is posted, but the controversy over the site formerly supervised by local GOP leader Craig MacGlashan continues.

Local conservative talk radio host Eric Hogue called for MacGlashan to resign as GOP leader in Sacramento County.

I agree with a Reader's Comment:

"My friend and I were just talking about how Republicans are willing to go to any lengths to win. Right or wrong they don't care. The GOP is based on Hate."

1. I live in Sac...
The jerk DEFENDED it:

But he defended his Web site. "I'm aware of the content," he said. "Some people find it offensive, others do not. I cannot comment on how people interpret things."

His predecessor stepped down for corruption LOL!:

Craig MacGlashan, a lifelong Republican, said he was only lightly involved in politics until now.

An attorney with Nageley Meredith & Miller, he was elected chairman of the Sacramento County Republican Party earlier this year after its former chairwoman, Donna Schalansky, stepped down amid claims that reimbursements she received were in violation of state law.

Craig MacGlashan said the Schalansky episode is "past history" and that his focus now is registering GOP voters.

For reference:

4-12-2007 9:14 pm

Sacramento County Republican Party just elected Craig MacGlashan as County Party Chair by a 27 to 15 margin.

MacGlashan had nearly universal support from GOP elected officials and had an effective whip program to help propel his strong victory.

Craig has been clear his goal is to emphasize political basics -- raising funds, registering voters and turning out GOP to help elect Republicans -- especially at the local level.

If San Diego, San Bernardino, Monterey or Santa Clara Counties are any indication, Sacramento will see a strong surge in GOP effectiveness in the coming elections!

Good luck to Craig and his new team!

His wife is an ex-Democrat county supervisor, who is covering herself, or trying, by condemning her own husband!

Oh, and Eric Hogue sucks!!!!

3. I live in Sac also
I never thought I'd see that kind of blatant racism in California - I'm a Midwest transplant, so I'm still adjusting, been here seven years now. Maybe republicans are the same everywhere.

2. I sent them a scathing email....
yesterday. I live in Scramento and know many republicans. But none like this. These people have totally lost it and like I just told one of my rep friends that if they don't stand up and do something about this, then i will consider them racist fuckwads too..

You get this, the other Rep site with the dollar bills and watermelon and the Rep blog with the noose and you have absolute proof that the Republican Party itself, not just some loose cannons, that are supporting this shit.

I fear for the future my friends. I fear.

4. Good for you
If sane republicans don't denounce this crap, then they will be held responsible as well. I'm generally a very tolerant person, but that tolerance is wearing very thin these days.

5. At least one Repugnant one has class
Further down in the article:
"Meanwhile, California Republican Party chairman Ron Nehring issued a statement sharply rebuking the Sacramento GOP's Web site and a San Bernardino Republican woman's club newsletter picturing Obama on a phony $10 bill adorned with a watermelon, ribs and a bucket of fried chicken...

Any material that invokes issues related to race is absolutely unacceptable, tarnishes our party, diminishes the hard work of the tens of thousands of volunteers who are working hard every day for our candidates, and must be condemned.

"This material I've seen inspires nothing but divisiveness and hostility and has absolutely no place in this election, or any public discourse."

The above statement is one that John McShameful could have made in response to "palling around with terrorists," but alas, he elected to ignore the behavior of his hand-picked running "soul" mate.

While Repugnant leadership is dishonorable, I'm sure there are one or two other decent Republicans somewhere.

6. I've known a lot of decent republicans
I was raised by republicans, but I'm afraid the sane ones won't be able to survive the lunatics in their party. They may have to withdraw and form a new party.

7. MacGlashan sees nothin' wrong with being a filthy racist pig.
And with tarring the entire republican party as being filthy racist pigs.
