Vote Liberal or Green, Nader urges Canada
Source: Globe and Mail Update

NEW GLASGOW, N.S. — U.S. presidential candidate Ralph Nader is weighing in on Tuesday's Canadian federal election, urging voters to support either of the two parties advocating carbon taxes.

The consumer advocate and former leader of the U.S. Green Party issued the statement Monday, praising the central plank of the Canadian Liberal and Green parties.

“This Canadian election is an example of how smaller third parties can influence the debate, with the Green Party's carbon tax being adopted by the Liberal Party as Exhibit A,” said Mr. Nader in a statement provided to The Globe and Mail. “For Canadians who believe in a carbon tax, which is essential in any battle against global warming, you have two choices this election to vote for something you believe in. There is a real chance for a progressive breakthrough on October 14, which would help comparative movements in the U.S.”

Canadian Green Party Leader Elizabeth May described Mr. Nader's statement as extraordinary.

14. I think the NDP is playing politics with the issue...
Because it is not well received. They probably picked up 5 points at first being a left of center party that was not in favor of the Green Shift. But, that is the name of the game for them, with their positioning.

6. You don't know what the fuck you're talking about. You should make an effort
to actually learn some things about the man. If you had even a basic working knowledge of everything Ralph Nader has done for the people of this country during his decades of public service, and still considered him a "slime ball from hell", I would be forced to conclude that you fall somewhere to the right of Ann Coulter on the political spectrum.

Yes, I know this is DU. I'm not going to vote for the man. But I know him personally, and I'll stick up for him when he's unfairly slandered.

And no, he didn't cost Al Gore the 2000 election. That election was stolen. Go after the thieves.

7. Agreed.
The man helped make major strides for the safety of all Americans when he was pushing for vehicular safety. He has also strongly supported clean environment issues.

36. Nader warned us that once the Democrats were elected, they would act like Republicans.
And judging from Nancy Pelosi's years of covering for the criminal junta -- not to mention the Democrats' installing Mukasey, failing to stop the war, failing to stop the wiretap immunity bill, and on and on and on -- Ralph Nader was dead fucking on target with that warning.

But he pissed it all away with his ginormous ego.

He is like one of those pathetic jerks sitting in a small town tavern, reminiscing about how they once made the winning touchdown in high school.

Anymore than the rest of the world overwhelmingly endorsing Obama is telling people how to vote. I don't see you all outraged about that.

So what specifically is it that you dislike about the Liberals and the Greens?

38. Try reading the article, y'know, where he tells people to vote Liberal or Green?
Oh, and don't try reading my mind just because I hate foreign electoral interference. You don't see me outraged at people abroad endorsing Obama because it's not the subject of this thread. However, that bothers me as much as the US leaning on other countries' electoral processes, however subtly or bluntly, does, and there's already been too much American interference in Canadian elections the last eight years.

In response to your question, I dislike the Liberals so very much that I voted for them today.

That'll show those cocky bastards.

And the NDP made gains - free from the Nader kiss of death.
