Army says 15 killed in Darfur rebel ambush
Source: AFP

KHARTOUM (AFP) - The Sudanese army said Friday that 15 people were killed when Darfur rebels attacked a local government convoy with military escort in the far west of the conflict-strewn region.

Rebels from the Justice and Equality Movement ambushed the convoy about 60 kilometres (40 miles) from the capital of West Darfur state, El Geneina, as it was travelling to Kulbus, further north on the border with Chad, the army said.

The identity of the dead was not immediately clear.
