Obama widens lead in national poll (CNN 53-45)
Source: CNN

A new national poll suggests Barack Obama is widening his lead over John McCain in the race for the White House.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll out Monday afternoon suggests that the country's financial crisis, record low approval ratings for President Bush and a drop in the public's perception of McCain's running mate could be contributing to Obama's gains.

Fifty-three percent of likely voters questioned in the poll say they are backing Obama for president, with 45 percent supporting McCain.

That 8-point lead is double the 4-point lead Obama held in the last CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll, taken in mid-September.

-----

The financial crisis also appears to be contributing to Obama's increased lead in the poll. Sixty-eight percent are confident in the Democratic presidential nominee's ability to handle the financial crisis, 18 points ahead of McCain, and 42 points ahead of President Bush.

More Americans appear to have an unfavorable view of Gov. Sarah Palin, and that may also be helping Obama in the fight for the presidency. Forty percent now have an unfavorable view of Palin, up from 27 percent a month ago and from 21 percent in late August, when McCain surprised many people by picking the first-term Alaska governor as his running mate.

3. Going over 50 percent is a very big deal.
That means McCain has to peel away a lot of voters who have committed to Obama.

9. And the mCcain campaign is about to unleash the 'Kitchen Stink Strategy'
hmmmm IMO This is indeed great news!! I predicted back during the Obama/Clinton wars that Obama would be the nominee going up against a sad McCain. I said this just after Texas when Senator Clinton started trailing and her campaign promised to unleash the Kitchen Sink Policy. I said then that it would only aid Obama BECAUSE WE THE PEOPLE ARE SICK OF BUSINESS AS USUAL!!!! I further predicted that near the end McCain would also be trailing and he too would resort to ratcheting up his attacks on Obama-the republican last ditch Kitchen Sink policy!.

The McCain campaign and their neocon puppeteers grow desperate-it's all they have left! Kitchen Stink was a costly plan for the Clinton Campaign and it's going to be the final nail for McCain's campaign as well!

It's true, like most here I've had my worries that the repukes would find a way to steal the election by keeping it close-well they are not keeping it close anymore! This is heading for the very Obama Landslide I predicted back when a trailing Senator Obama started drawing crowds large enough to fill Concert Arenas and Football Stadiums while Senator Clinton was struggling to fill high school halls! Obama's crowds have not shrunk a bit and yet McCain/Palin can't even draw crowds that Senator Clinton can!!!!! The McCain campaign KNOWS that this one is all but lost! So do their voters. It's gonna get even uglier if that is possible but my prediction is all that uglyness is going to further fuel the electorate AGAINST 'ugly'

Senator Obama: We put our trust in ya, We got you here pal, do us all proud! Now go get em tiger!
(If only you could see my mental image of Senator Obama in a Spiderman outfit swinging off to the White House above a sea of children cheerin him on!)

11. Obama's going to win
Conservatives have gone back to hating McCain after the bailout.

We're going to be saying, "President Obama" soon.

12. Sounds good but forgive me for not relaxing until he has at least a 15 percent lead.
5 percent to counter the 'Bradly' effect, and 10 percent to counter any possible vote-stealing attempts. Now is NOT the time to get complacent. January (when jug-ears is out of office) is, and not before.
