McCain Plans Fiercer Strategy Against Obama
Source: Washington Post

Saturday, October 4, 2008; Page A01

Sen. John McCain and his Republican allies are readying a newly aggressive assault on Sen. Barack Obama's character, believing that to win in November they must shift the conversation back to questions about the Democrat's judgment, honesty and personal associations, several top Republicans said.

With just a month to go until Election Day, McCain's team has decided that its emphasis on the senator's biography as a war hero, experienced lawmaker and straight-talking maverick is insufficient to close a growing gap with Obama. The Arizonan's campaign is also eager to move the conversation away from the economy, an issue that strongly favors Obama and has helped him to a lead in many recent polls.

"We're going to get a little tougher," a senior Republican operative said, indicating that a fresh batch of television ads is coming. "We've got to question this guy's associations. Very soon. There's no question that we have to change the subject here," said the operative, who was not authorized to discuss strategy and spoke on the condition of anonymity. . . .

They darken Obama's face in commercials. They also put black people in along with frightening messages. The Republicans are going to keep making the racism in their ads less and less subtle hoping the conversation will shift to race.

Its going to be either that or terror alerts again. Or both.

19. This will be an Epic Fail
Obama's support has been a slow, steady thing. He's got the people that he persuaded in the primary, the Democrats that moved over to him after the primary, the Republicans that were disgusted by Bush and didn't believe McCain would be any better or different and the Republicans that balked when McCain showed a miserable lack of judgement by picking Palin. And we can't forget the whole suspend / unsuspend the campaign for the bail out bill that failed, and the other one that passed with pork that he so opposes and now says Bush should veto. Huh?

Anything that McCain throws at Obama now is old hat. From what I understand (and I didn't watch it, only a couple minutes on YouTube and I was through), even Bill the moron O'Reilly has softened toward Obama - and this after he threw Ayers and Rev. Wright at him during the interview.

In the meantime, folks are REALLY concerned about the economy. This isn't hitting just Michigan and Ohio or Pennsylvania. This mess is EVERYWHERE - any attempts to take the focus off real issues that effect us all is not going to be greeted favorably.

I think Obama will actually humiliate McCain in the landslide. The Maverick will be lucky if he gets to keep Arizona.

(sigh) Gotta make it happen, so I guess I'll be out this weekend for the last few days of GA voter registration. I'm tired. I can't wait for November 5th. I am sooooooooooooo gonna sleep.

32. Obama Must Be Keeping The Keating 5 In Reserve
for just such an attack. There is the only reason I can see for not having brought it up. Most people don't even know who the Keating 5 are or what they did and it completely nullifies McCain's straight talking, maverick lie.

And let's not forget how McCain sold out to the nutty Christian Right or Palin's nutwing religious preacher.

39. McCain plans fiercer strategy against Obama
Source: Washington Post/NBC

WASHINGTON - Sen.

Being so aggressive has risks for McCain if it angers swing voters, who often say they are looking for candidates who offer a positive message about what they will do. That could be especially true this year, when frustration with Washington politics is acute and a desire for specifics on how to fix the economy and fight the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is strong.

What is it they say about somebody that tries the same thing and expects different results?

The last time McCain tried this was before his own judgement was on display for picking a VP candidate so thin on experience. Someone as incurious as George W. Bush himself. As I said, that dog won't hunt.

Obama to preempt McCain assault

Advertisements Source: Politico

Branding his opponent as “erratic in a crisis,” Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is preempting plans by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) to portray him as having sinister connections to controversial Chicagoans.

Obama officials call it political jujitsu – turning the attacks back on the attacker.

McCain officials had said early in the weekend that they plan to begin advertising after Tuesday’s debate that will tie Obama to convicted money launderer Tony Rezko and former Weathermen radical William Ayers.

But Obama isn’t waiting to respond. His campaign is going up Monday on national cable stations with a scathing ad saying: “Three quarters of a million jobs lost this year. Our financial system in turmoil. And John McCain? Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy. No wonder his campaign wants to change the subject.

“Turn the page on the financial crisis by launching dishonorable, dishonest ‘assaults’ against Barack Obama. Struggling families can't turn the page on this economy, and we can't afford another president who is this out of touch.”

Thats why McBush/Failin are so desperately trying to change the subject with outrageous lies about Obama.

Hit them with the economy 24/7 and we'll all be together when President Obama takes the oath in January!:toast:
