Approval rating for Palin tumbles among Alaskans
Source: Anchorage Daily News

Ask a governor if she'd be happy with a 68 percent approval rating and she'd probably laugh at the question. It usually doesn't get much better than that.

For Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, though, that represents a hefty drop.

Since John McCain tapped the first-term governor to be his vice-presidential running mate, Palin's sky-high home-state approval ratings have come down to Earth.

Above 80 percent approval for parts of her term -- she was at 82 percent in a key local poll twice this year -- Palin's popularity has swooned as new information about the local abuse-of-power investigation known as Troopergate has trickled out, and as national and local media pick over her track record as a governor and small-town mayor.

Palin still has overwhelming support among Alaska Republicans. But many Democrats and independents, who gave her positive marks just a month ago, have changed their views.

1. Funny how CNN reported earlier today that is was a "strong 68%"
This during a report on how Biden's gaffes are not reported to the same extent as Palin flat out dropping the ball in every public appearance-except the ones reading the same speech from a teleprompter

3. Bush took Alaska in 2004 with 61% of the vote

So for Palin to have a 68% approval rating shouldn't surprise anyone.

2. When were those other two polls conducted?
Around the time the Alaskan residents received their oil residual checks?

But I wonder about the residents on Little Diomede. They appear to be living mostly in poverty.

8. Perminent Fund Dividend Checks
The Perminent Fund which was originally funded with Oil Royalties has grown to an enormous fund and the Revenues from Investments made from that Fund are handed out annually in Dividends. Imagine a Bank account that draws interest. The Interest from that account is what is divided among alaskans. It really has nothing at all to do with Oil any longer. Oil revenues though are used to run the State and that is why Alaskans pay no Taxes.

11. Google is your friend
The State of Alaska has created a "Perminent Fund" and that is what it is called. Alaska is an ownership state by it's Constitution. Resources belong to the people. The "Fund" is grown every year by taking fifty percent of all "Earnings" and inserting that back into the "fund". The other fifty percent is divided in half with half going to fund State Operations and the other half in dividends to the people. This year the "Fund lost three percent which was mostly because of investments in Stocks. It made six percent in Domestic Bonds and 10.6 percent in Foreign Bonds, but over all it lost 3% and that means everybody's dividend will be much smaller next year..Even though oil is high the dividends will be smaller..

12. I don't know where you got Perminent as the part of the fund name
But according to an Alaska government website it is "Permanent Fund Dividend Checks"

15. Sadly, it'll never happen.
Repukes like Sarah Palin are pretty much the norm in those parts.
