Clinton defends Obama while attacking GOP ticket
Source: The Hill.com

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday defended Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) from Republican charges of sexism and suggested the GOP ticket was trying to distract voters from real issues.

Clinton refrained from directly attacking Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the GOP vice presidential nominee, during a news conference scheduled to discuss disparity in pay between men and women. But by highlighting an issue that is important to the millions of white women who supported her in the Democratic primary, Clinton drew a bright line between the two campaigns and showed Palin does not share her views.

“The campaign of Sen. McCain seems to want to divert attention away from the real challenges facing middle-class families in America today,” she said.

“I see nothing from the McCain-Palin ticket that really suggests, even, that they understand the depth of economic distress in this country, the tragedy of the uninsured who cannot get healthcare, the problems that we face, from home foreclosures to dependence on foreign oil, and so much else."

4. Thank you, Sen, Clinton!
This is exactly what we need from her. If the Republicans manage to turn this election season into a dogfight and completely avoid the issues, they've got a good chance of winning. They're better at fighting dirty than we are. We need to hit McCain/Palin hard, definitely, but we need to do it on the issues. Responding to direct attacks is needed, to be sure, but the focus should be on what the two tickets will do for our country when the election is over.

As eloquent and laser sharp as Clinton is, he needs to lend his voice to this, especially being how he was persecuted by thugs during his second term in light of the condition in which he left this country when he left office. He needs to be out there reminding people that it was Democratic policies and leadership that brought them to that $7k+ increase in their incomes, led to the budgets having a surplus.

There are too many people who refuse to believe that they are worse off than they were 8 years ago, even as the sheriff is nailing a foreclosure notice to the front door of their homes and their insurance companies denying to pay for treatment and a thug candidate that is saying "draft is not out of the question".

11. She refrained from directly attacking Palin
Wow.
What a nrat supporter of Obama. Seems the entire Democratic party refrains from attacking the tinky winky Sarah. In spite of all the lies she told. Hillary is just playing it safe. After all, she may need Sarah when she runs for pres next time around. Where is Al Gore? Where is Carter? Where are the fuck any of them? Thanks a lot Hillary. Look after yourself honey. It is imperative that the Democrats swat down this circus of Palin and McCain, and what do they do? They leave it all up to Obama, who is hamstrung, not only by Palin and McCain, but by his own people. Chreest. What is the matter with these people? Hillary is looking out for herself. She is not a team player. Obama is slipping and NO ONE of the Democrats will step up and confront the McCain circus. Jeebus, I can't believe it. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot=== We are seeing a repeat of Kerry, with the Democrats sitting back and enjoying the show, eh? Not a one, not even Biden, will step up to the plate. Skeered are they?" We don't need to take it any longer. We spend our money, our time, and our energy to get Obama elected, while the millionaires are reticent to step up to the plate, to get him elecgted. Feh is all I have to say.

16. I think it was probably a conscious (and smart) decision on her part
Obama is not running against Sarah Palin, though you might think so, watching the news these days. She's the VP nominee - not his opponent.

The more ignored she is right now, the better. The more people focus on the top of that ticket, the better we look.

I think Hillary made a smart move here.

20. Some people think Palin should be ignored.
Palin's own incompetence is glaring and she is saying quite enough to make an idiot out of herself.

I think Woodrow Wilson said "Never murder a man who is in the middle of committing suicide".

Swingvoters dont read "The Hill"-they watch TV.

18. Thank you Hillary. We may need you to speak up more because it won't be so
readily considered sexist if you do take on Palin.

19. Hillary needs to step up the heat on Palin
After this interview, Hillary should say that she was shocked and frightened by how uninformed and unprepared this woman is to be president.
