Palin appears to disagree with McCain on sex education
Source: LA Times

Teen pregnancy and sex education were thrust into the spotlight this week when Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin revealed that her 17-year-old daughter is five months pregnant.

Palin's running mate, John McCain, and the GOP platform say children should be taught that abstinence until marriage is the only safe way to avoid pregnancy and disease. Palin's position is less clear. In a widely quoted 2006 survey she answered during her gubernatorial campaign, Palin said she supported abstinence-until-marriage programs. But weeks later, she proclaimed herself "pro-contraception" and said condoms ought to be discussed in schools alongside abstinence.

"I'm pro-contraception, and I think kids who may not hear about it at home should hear about it in other avenues," she said during a debate in Juneau.

Such statements could raise concerns among social conservatives who have been some of Palin's most enthusiastic supporters since she was tapped for the No. 2 spot on the GOP ticket last week.

2. Obama/Biden should put these quotes in a campaign ad showing dissention
between the 2.

4. The campaign can't since they would be accused of
attacking her kid. She will be the original teflon candidate. If it is true, and I will certainly keep this thread handy, then local groups should disseminate this information.

6. So she's pandering to the middle with words but she's leading the base by example
And neither one is supposed to notice?

Just who came up with this strategy, Stan Laurel or Oliver Hardy?

7. Palin's lying about being pro-contraceptive, but if she keeps up that kind of talk she'll lose
James Dobson. Funny how Dobson was refusing to support McSame until the Queen of the Hypocrites appeared on the ticket.

10. Looks like the southern end of a north-bound horse
from behind the barn door. Perhaps Gov. Palin realized after she said she supported abstinence only programs that there might be a real need for information on contraception close to home.

11. Obama/Biden need to make women's rights THE ISSUE
esp. being more women vote than men do (51%). Most of the women I know are not for reducing women's rights, they are for increasing them!

Wake up Obama/Biden! Make this THE ISSUE!

:kick: for women!

13. That's the position of the so-called "Feminists for Life"
They don't tout it much, but if you twist their arms they will opine that some contraception is better than none.

14. Flip-flopper ...

You know, the Obama campaign really has to get on this flip flopping issue because they are ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!

In 2004, John Kerry explained a nuance in his vote that there were two different versions of a bill. He voted for one and not the other because they had different provisions. Of course, Kerry explained it stupidly, but all we heard after that was "he voted for it before he voted against it" and the lazy as slugs commentators just kept repeating that line over and over again.

Now we have a candidate with an epic amount of recent flip-flops as well as video footage of him acting ridiculously servile to the man who slurred him in the 2000 election.

BTW, now he is even changing his story on his imprisonment. Now he's saying that they denied him medical treatment until the Vietnamese discovered his father was an Admiral. In his memoirs, he says they granted him treatment after he read a "confession" in which he denounced his service as "black crimes". Now, most of us would have broken as well and honestly I don't see any reason why anyone should endure torture over reading a statement which everyone else will realize is coerced. But I will mention that John McCain's fellow prisoners somehow managed to get medical treatment and pretty certain that their father's were not admiral's either.

The fact that McCain and Palin can lie with gross impunity without being called by the media while the finest minutia of Democratics are carefully scrutinized tells you how biased the media is. Shit, The Daily Show has been composing obvious video montages of Republican bullshit (from their own mouths) with a staff that is dwarfed by the resources of so called "serious" news outlets.
