A plea deal by Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick may be imminent in the text message scandal.

Maria Miller, a spokeswoman for Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, said Kilpatrick is expected to plead guilty at 5 p.m. today before Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Edward Ewell.

Worthy is expected to make a brief statement and issue a news release after the plea is officially entered on the record, Miller said in a statement.

A plea deal by Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is expected Thursday in the text message scandal. Initially, the plea was expected at 5:15 p.m. today, but the hearing was postponed because terms of his plea are still being negotiated.
