Lieberman calls Obama young, untested
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 12:17 AM by ckramer
Source: ap

"Sen. Barack Obama is a gifted and eloquent young man who can do great things for our country in the years ahead," Lieberman said. "But my friends, eloquence is no substitute for a record — not in these tough times for America."

The Connecticut lawmaker, who sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004, argued that Obama has not reached across party lines to achieve anything of significance and has been unwilling to take on Democratic interest groups.

In a clear appeal for backers of Obama's former rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Lieberman said, "Let me contrast Barack Obama's record to that of the last Democratic president, Bill Clinton, who stood up to some of those same Democratic interest groups and worked with Republicans and got some important things done, like welfare reform, free trade agreements, and a balanced budget."

"Tonight, I want to ask you, whether you are an independent, a Reagan Democrat, a Clinton Democrat, or just a plain old Democrat: This year, when you vote for president, vote for the person you believe is best for our country, not for the party you happen to belong to," Lieberman said.

40. “What, after all, is a Democrat like me doing at a Republican convention like this?” Lieberman asked
His answer: “I’m here to support John McCain because country matters more than party.”

The "country" he's talking about is Israel. Lieberman is a traitor. I hope Democrats know where his loyalties lie.

The citizens of Connecticut do.

THEY put Lieberman in office. Maybe you want to familiarize yourself with their reasons.

And if you think splitting Jews off into separate groups legitimizes your hatred, think again.

They elected Prescott Bush to the Senate and got the whole ball rolling for the Bush family. Apparently, Connecticut voters are easily duped into voting against their own interests (even more so than other Americans). They have bought Bushes and Zionism and where has it gotten them?

Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 12:26 AM by Make7
Aren't the accomplishments listed of Bill Clinton's where he reached across the aisle the things he did after he was President?

Is it just me, or is that just kinda dumb?

50. Oh, I miss him, too!
I felt safe when Bill was at the helm. These last eight years I have been going to bed every night wondering who the hell we would have bombed by the time I woke up.

Bill was class. Bill was presidential. Bill was in charge. And beyond all else, Bill was able to think.

Haven't had any of those qualities in the white house in a very, very long time.

Good heavens, how can ANYONE be foolish enough to think another four years of the same would be a good thing? It simply boggles the mind.

26. Untested?……..Are you kidding?
Obama has been tested from day one. He went through a grueling democratic campaign. Over twenty debates. Every time he was faced with an ugly accusation he faced it and rebounded. When faced with the words of his long time pastor he responded with a speech that was the most important speech on race relations in this country in 40 years. He faced the formidable Clinton organization and emerged victorious.
All along this process he has spoken eloquently and with forceful resolve. The man has faced these tough moments and remained , as the saying goes, cool as a cucumber. I did not start out as a Clinton or Obama supporter. I was leaning toward Biden or Kucinich, but Obama made a believer out of me.

29. I just laugh at Joe Lieberman, really
I mean when you hear his glowing speech for Barack Obama (easy to find on youtube) and then hear him speak so supportive of McCain, you realize he is EVERYTHING the Republicans hate... and he's in their midst! hahahahaha To be in a den of thieves and not be trusted is as isolating as you can imagine. Once McCain gets swept up in the next 2 months of activity, Joe is going to be so lonely that he'll probably have to crawl inside one of his jowels and curl up for a two week depression nap. I think someone needs to do a 'McCain's Cabinet' photoshop pic of all McCain's future pics - and Lieberman at the State Department will be the biggest laugh of all. He'll pout everyone into signing an armistice! LOL

Joe doesn't realize -- Obama is AMERICA'S MOVEMENT !! (John McCain just HAD a movement)

If Lieberman is making light of experience and decision-making, then it's a gift to the DNC. The Democrats just need to point out Palin's inexperience and McCain's poor decision-making. A gift to the Democrats.

I just love how McCain has just given away the only perceived advantage he had over Obama, in "experience." Thank you guys.
