Al Gore to visit San Diego to stump for Nick Leibham
Source: Union Tribune

The Democratic Party is bringing out the big artillery to push the candidacy of Nick Leibham. He's the 34-year-old North County attorney who they hope will beat incumbent Republican Rep. Brian Bilbray in District 50, a traditional Republican stronghold.

Former Vice President Al Gore has agreed to attend Leibham fundraisers at two homes in Rancho Santa Fe on Sept. 20.

Gore will focus on his vision of an energy-independent United States in 10 years, which dovetails with the Congressional candidate's campaign theme of stripping oil companies of their tax breaks and investing the money in alternative energy solutions.

Its always hard to tell what your chances are in a congressional campaign, especially when you are challenging an incumbent but by any indicator a Gore visit isn't offered unless their is a reasonable chance of victory.
