Edited on Wed Aug-27-08 06:08 PM by The Sushi Bandit
Source: Denver Post

It was a Denver police officer who was videotaped shoving a Code Pink protester to the ground with his baton on Tuesday, police confirmed today.

Denver police spokesman John White would not reveal the name of the officer but did say he is with the Denver Police Department.

The officer is accused of manhandling Alicia Forrest to the ground on Tuesday morning as she tried to question the officer. The incident happened as police were trying to gain control after a man was denouncing homosexuality at Civic Center.

Forrest was arrested for interference

1. I believe the officer also called the citizen, a "bitch"
No officer sworn to uphold the law should use that kind of language on a citizen, but with McC*** as a "role model," who knows where the boundaries lie...

2. UPDATE: She is Released!
CodePink member 'optimistic' after release; officer pulled from protests

A CodePink member who was arrested by officers after being shoved to the ground is recovering and out and about after being released from jail Tuesday night.

Alicia Forrest, 24, of the anti-war group CodePink, is tired from the ordeal, but "she's optimistic for further CodePink action and progress for the week," her organization said in a statement.

"I was standing up for my free speech rights, showing support for a fellow activist," Forrest said in the statement. "If anything, this has showed me how powerful standing up for your beliefs can be, and how necessary it is for the truth to get out even in the face of resistance."

Around noon Tuesday, an officer allegedly forced Forrest to the ground with a baton and later pulled her away from interviews with reporters.

The Rocky Mountain News captured the exchange on video.

CodePink said in the statement that the officer has since been pulled from the protest lines and can no longer interact with demonstrators.

Generalize much? Isn't that the same sort of thing you'd prefer the Repubs not do?

12. If I knock a woman to the ground with a club I go to jail for 5 days
on a first offense. I get up to a $5,000 fine and mandatory anger management courses.

This guy does the same and gets reassigned. No disciplinary action at all. WTF this is BS.

She should file assault charges. it's BS that the cop attacks her, and she goes to jail.

Interference?? YA RIGHT. Your Honor, I plead guilty to beating the $#!+ out of that cops billy club with my neck, and interfering with him as he attempted to stretch his arms.

What a crock of BS.
