U.S. says likely to help Georgia rebuild military
Source: Reuters

By David Brunnstrom

TBILISI, Aug 21 (Reuters) - The United States expects to help Georgia rebuild its military following the conflict with Russia over breakaway South Ossetia, a top U.S. general said on Thursday.

"One would assume ... we would have to help them rebuild because they are a partner in the war on terror, they've been helpful. They are going to ask us, I am sure, to replace and rebuild," General John Craddock, who is in charge of the U.S. European Command, told reporters during a trip to Georgia.

Craddock said he would assess Georgia's needs during his visit, due to end on Friday, and report back to the Pentagon.

"I think that (assistance) is probably going to happen. It's a matter of how much and how fast," he added.

2. Eventually, we'll get around to building new schools, roads, etc in the US.
The really important stuff, like rebuilding Georgia's military has to take precedence. :sarcasm:

6. If defense contractors built schools, we'd be doing that.
I've said it before, it's not about WMD, or "spreading Democracy", or the oil...it's about hundreds of billions in defense contracts.

7. Nobody builds a millitary w/o expecting to use it. God, I'm so sick of our country's
trajectory into hell. What's the point of working in this country if all our tax money goes to another?

14. Ah so nice of us to help them when we all get to pay for health care or die.
Of course there isn't anything we need to spend money on in the USA so we can go on helping others indefinitely.
