EASTON, Mass. (AP) - A small plane has crashed in a grocery store parking lot, and a firefighter says there are multiple fatalities.

Easton firefighter Darren Stone says the number of deaths is uncertain. He also did not know whether any of those killed were on the ground.

The crash of the single-engine plane in the Hannaford's grocery store parking lot happened at about 10:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Store manager Arthur Dechellis says he heard an explosion and when he looked outside a two-seat plane was on fire. He says the plane crashed in a remote corner of the parking lot where people rarely park and no cars were hit.

A plane crash has claimed the lives of three people after the single-engine plane apparently burst into flames in Easton, Mass.

A small plane crash has killed at least three individuals after crashing in Easton, Massachusetts, landing in the Hannaford's grocery store parking lot.

The cause of the crash is still unclear, but it is believed that the plane burst into flames, indicating that there was still fuel onboard.

The FAA has just confirmed the plane was an Angel Flight, which is a plane transporting someone for treatment. Some reports indicate one of the victims was a cancer patient, but that is not yet confirmed.

7. Not a medevac.
Angel Flights are charitable flights by an organization that flies people to get treatment, that's too far away for them otherwise.

6. Excellent flying
The pilot put it down (OK, cratered it in) where nobody on the ground (apparently) got hurt.

8. That's always your first concern, when you know you're going in.
I'm reminded of (U2 pilot) Gary Francis Powers flying a traffic copter. He knew he was going in, and maneuvered away from a little league baseball game.
