Governor (Schwarzenegger) sues controller to force pay cuts
Edited on Mon Aug-11-08 09:07 PM by Newsjock
Source: San Francisco Chronicle

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger sued state Controller John Chiang this afternoon after he refused to follow the governor's order to slash pay for thousands of state workers to federal minimum wage as a cash-saving measure during the budget impasse.

The governor's suit asks a judge to force the controller to impose the pay cuts until a budget is enacted because Schwarzenegger's administration cannot wait for Chiang to comply with the governor's recent order, Lynelle Jolley, a spokeswoman for the Department of Personnel Administration, said.

Schwarzenegger on July 31 ordered pay cuts for thousands of workers to $6.55 an hour, ordered the layoffs of more than 10,000 workers, eliminated overtime and imposed a hiring freeze.

4. So isn't it time for the INS to review his actual legitimacy in this country?
Edited on Mon Aug-11-08 09:19 PM by Cleita
Everything that he has done like becoming a citizen, marrying an American princess, becoming Governor, is all hinging on a very dubious Green Card situation as to how he entered this country to begin with and how his slick immigration lawyers covered up his sandbox.

Honestly, after the drawing and quartering of Edwards for sexual misconduct, this Arnold's sexual crimes far exceed anything Edwards has done. Yet his slick lawyers have managed to bury those doo doos pretty deep in the sandbox as well. It's time to make Arnold accountable to the laws he so cavalierly uses for his benefit but doesn't feel he has to follow if it doesn't suit him. Not only that, his marriage to Maria Shriver has put a powerful Democratic family behind him, maybe reluctantly so, as cannon fodder, but even the Kennedys can be broached I believe if there is determination.

11. I think he works for a buck a year
But then, I'm going to guess that most of the state employees in California don't have millions rolling in from residuals from crappy action movies and gut-churningly insulting Japanese commercials.

9. Where are the frickin RECALL PETITIONS?
Have all these state employee unions lost their cojones? Don't they want to get rid of this sorry piece of crap? Why are we just sitting here? I will sign, I will carry petitions from door to door, I will kick in a few hundred bucks but somebody with more resources than me has to get the ball rolling.

BTW, the State Controller was elected by the voters. He doesn't work for ahnuld titzengroper and he doesn't have to follow his bullshit "orders".

The courts are gonna whack ahnuld's pee pee big time on this one. Time to kick his flabby ass when he's down.

21. I think people are too busy being pissed off at the Legislature to bother with Arnold
They're the ones who aren't doing their jobs.

If Arnold was eligible to run for another term, using state employees as pawns would be a big mistake. But he really has nothing to lose.

12. Must be that "King Thing"...
he's a governor, not a king, how can he expect people to adhere to some form of insanity?

Almost every state has it's share of incompetent people in their bureaucracy, noting like going to $6.55 an hour to make the all incompetent...:eyes:

But, as for the lawsuit, he's going to lose, he listened to some anti-labor lawyers, took a clue from Reagan and his Flight Controllers firings, and figures he can do whatever he wants...that's not the way things go. He's going to lose, look like an even bigger jerk and destroyed whatever notion he had of ever winning a 3rd term.

Now if he really wanted to make a point, he'd demand that all of the members of the CA legislature work for $6.55 an hour...I'd like to see the faces on the R's in that lege swallow that///:evilgrin:

13. I seem to recall that California governors are
term limited to two terms. So it doesn't really matter what Schwarzenegger does with this term, since it's his last.

Apparently his last term ends sometime in 2011 (unless someone launches a recall petition).

Q3JR4.
All of the above from wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt.

to create the notion that Hollywood is the new Babylon, Sodom and Gomorrah all rolled ito one hideous place...they think that Reagan and Schwarzenegger are to be idolized. Two B actors both of them serious womanizers and neither of them w/the brains to blow their noses or wipe their own butts, somehow became the pillars of the GOP...hideous....:scared:

16. Schwarzenegger sues state controller over pay-cut order
Source: LA Times

John Chiang has refused to implement the governor's pay cut for state workers, ordered because of the budget impasse.

By Evan Halper and Patrick McGreevy, Los Angeles Times Staff Writers
August 12, 2008

SACRAMENTO -- The Schwarzenegger administration Monday sued state Controller John Chiang in an effort to force him to comply with the governor's order that the pay of most state workers be dropped to the federal minimum wage until a state budget is enacted.

The lawsuit was filed in Superior Court in Sacramento hours after Chiang, who controls the state payroll, formally answered Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's directive. Chiang's office wrote to the governor's staff that complying with the pay cut directive, issued late last month, would be a complex process and the controller's office needed until at least the end of the week to determine if it was possible.

Administration officials responded that they would not wait.

"Absent a commitment that the controller will implement" the pay cuts, said a letter from the state personnel department, the administration "must seek legal action to compel the controller to comply with the law."

24. He can't be fired
He was elected by the citizens. He's not a subordinate officer to the governor, he has equal status.

he can sit there and give ahnuld the finger and the dumshit can't do a thing about it. And ahnuld can go ahead and sue, his suit will be laughed out of court.
