Cheney: Russian action 'must not go unanswered'
Source: AP

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney says Russia's military actions in Georgia "must not go unanswered."

Cheney spoke Sunday afternoon with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili. "The vice president expressed the United States' solidarity with the Georgian people and their democratically elected government in the face of this threat to Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Cheney's press secretary, Lee Ann McBride, said.

7. You all know where this is leading don't you? "We must elect John McCain in order to deal with the
Russians"...

Yes, I spotted this theme early this morning on the talkinghead shows and we are going to hear this 'non-stop' right up to the election.

The US and its bastard allies are going to poke and provoke Russia to make sure they appear to be a threat.

The game has been set. No need for an 'october surprise' now. The neocon's now have the big "Soviet Bear" back on the radar as its latest boogeyman.

12. Cheney wants US global empire
That is why his government supported CIA organized/funded coups (the so-called "color revolutions"), to overthrow the governments of Ukraine and Georgia, so that puppet regimes could be installed there. When you hear about the South Ossetians killed in this criminal attack by Georgia, remember that their blood is on the Neocon's hands as well. Most Georgians also hate their dictator, Saakashvili. The only reason he is in power still is because of his feared security services.

Bush says violence in Georgia is unacceptable

Associated Press - August 10, 2008 9:33 PM ET

BEIJING (AP) - President Bush has sharply criticized Moscow's harsh military crackdown in the former Soviet republic of Georgia, saying the violence is unacceptable and Russia's response is disproportionate.

The United States is waging an all-out campaign to press Russia to halt its retaliation against Georgia for trying to take control of the breakaway province of South Ossetia.

Bush, in an interview with NBC, said, "I've expressed my grave concern about the disproportionate response of Russia and that we strongly condemn the bombing outside of South Ossetia."

39. The confrontation everyone has always feared...
Edited on Sun Aug-10-08 09:08 PM by Baby Snooks
http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/nuclear/nuclearwar1.html

The Cuban missile crisis was not really a confrontation. What is developing in Georgia is a confrontation. The confrontation everyone has always feared. And of course it is really over oil. Which a growing number of people feared would create the scenario for such a confrontation with Russia. Most expected it to occur with a confrontation with an ally of Russia, in particular a confrontation with Iran, and few thought about the possibility of a direct confrontation with Russia. Until Cheney began his warmongering rhetoric.

Hope that reason prevails rather than the rhetoric of a madman.

Armed not just with guns but public relations agencies, Russia and Georgia are fighting a propaganda war to shape public opinion at home and abroad with a constant stream of disputed facts about their conflict.

(snip)
Mindful of Georgia's importance to the West as an energy transit corridor from the oil-rich Caspian, a Georgian minister accused Moscow of attempting to bomb a key oil pipeline running across its territory.

Russia denied attacking any non-military target and independent experts pointed out that the pipeline was in any case already out of commission because of an explosion in eastern Turkey which knocked it out last Tuesday.

in Georgia has scared the f'ing crap out of me from the first news I heard of it last week.

I have a bad, bad feeling about the whole thing. There is undoubtedly much more going on behind the scenes. Think about the crap we were fed about Iraq in the beginning, and what we know now about what really happened (and I have no doubt we have only scratched the surface of learning the truth about Iraq).

What nefarious nonsense has led up to this Georgia/Russia conflict that we will only learn about in the future?
