BEIJING - A pro-Tibet group says three American activists have been detained after trying to protest near the venue for the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony.

Students for a Free Tibet executive director Lhadon Tethong says the trio were grabbed by police as they traveled to the Beijing National Stadium.

They had planned to hold Tibetan flags Friday during the opening.

1. You know a country's human rights record is horrific when
even GW Bush complains.

2. I'm surprised Amanda Beard didn't get tossed. I guess the Chinese government
doesn't have the will to throw out athletes. I'm waiting for the cartoonists to get going with Bush. I can see him now in the stands holding an American flag, and in the foreground the Chinese government bashing heads and silencing reporters.

3. I'm definitely thinking about not watching any coverage
of these Olympic Games. They remind me of the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. I can't for the life of me figure out why the IOC even gave these Olympics to China. I guess money does talk...

If the US had any guts, they would've have boycotted these Olympics but we all know that GENBC paid hundreds of millions of the not-so-almighty dollar to the Chinese government and the IOC for the right to broadcast this farce in the US.

Does NBC really think that their coverage will be uncensored? If they do, I've got a bridge to sell ya.....
