A House committee chairman is looking into Sargeant's defense contracts for shipping fuel to U.S. bases in Iraq as part of a probe into whether contractors are engaging in overcharging.

1. Another rethug benefiting from war
This falls under the category of "what else is new". They have always been able to do this and will keep on doing it until the traitorous crooks are in jail.

3. "...until the traitorous crooks are in jail."
I'm not holding my breath, but he can't possibly use the defense that he didn't know better. Sargent is an old hand at bundling illegal contributions. Glad someone was keeping and eye on him. Perhaps a little pressure on those middle-class folks who obviously couldn't afford to make the contributions attributed to them?

If it were a Dem tainted with the crap that's gone on in the McCain campaign, he'd have been tarred and feathered, crucified, drawn and quartered, flayed, flogged and totally fucked over in the press. But it's "Teh Maverick" so it's all good.

5. Mustafa Abu Naba'a
So a foreigner named Mustafa Abu Naba'a, in violation of campaign finance law, solicits contributions from the Abdullahs of California, lying about the purpose about their contributions, and it's no big deal. Just give the money back, no need to indict anyone.

"that just didn't sound right to us" which means that they had some realization that the fact that they are cashing illegal checks from Mustafa Abu Naba'a might look bad when they attack Barack Obama for having a funny foreign name.

And yes, they did cash checks from Mustafa Abu Naba'a.
