FAA restricts airspace for RNC
Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press

When private planes start arriving in the Twin Cities for the Republican National Convention in early September, pilots will want to make sure they've done their homework.

Airspace restrictions will require private planes arriving at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport — and Holman Field near downtown St. Paul — to get a waiver 72 hours in advance of the planned flight.

Without the waiver, those planes will first have to stop at airports in either Rochester, St. Cloud or near Eau Claire, Wis., before heading to their final destination.

During the stop, federal security personnel would search each plane and screen each passenger.

... If there's any doubt about how serious the airspace restrictions are, the FAA advisory puts that to rest: "Noncompliance with the published (FAA notice) may result in the use of force," it cautions.

1. I would think that they are
doing the same for the DNC. So, what's your point?

4. This is nothing out of the ordinary
TRF's (Temporary Flight Restrictions) are a common thing when high-profile events or people are occurring somewhere, regardless of political affiliation.

6. Touche John
I failed to consider the minor third parties. You are correct in calling me out, I am correct in the "high profile" sense.

7. When I die I want to be cremated and dumped out during a flight over the RNC convention.
I figured I have been a PITA to the GOP all my life and I might as well go out as a cinder in the collective GOP eye.

I guess that with the increased awareness of public safety that "plan" is not a possibility any more. Looks like I better come up with an alternative.

8. Go Hunter S. Thompson
And shoot your remains out of a cannon over the RNC Headquarters. Its worth a shot, no pun intended.
