White House to Project Deficit of $521 billion in 2004
Congrats Georgie! You broke your own record.

White House to Project Deficit of $521 bln in 2004
29 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House will project that the federal budget deficit will peak this year at $521 billion, surpassing congressional estimates and shattering previous records, people familiar with the budget said on Thursday.

The White House sees improvement after that, and officials said President Bush (news - web sites) would set an election-year goal of halving the deficit over the next five years.

At $521 billion, the fiscal 2004 deficit would easily top the $374 billion shortfall posted in fiscal 2003.

It is also significantly higher than this week's Congressional Budget Office (news - web sites) deficit projection of $477 billion for fiscal 2004.

4. what would it be w/out using FICA to hide the real amount?
These people are using fica to fund the ops of gov't, this means that everyone who earns over 80,000 get a break. Lets have equal taxation and equal protection under the law.

5. An election year goal?
Ha! That is laughable! Like his election year goal to be a uniter not a divider? Like his election year goal for this country never to engage in nation building? His election year goals are useless!

This idiot is off his rocker!

6. We should NOT bitch about the deficit
Not with these people in power, that is. We bitch about the deficit, they will give us a lower deficit: by privatizing social security and Medicare, cutting Veterans benefits, selling off public lands to developers, getting rid of collge financial aid, slashing the budgets of regulatory agencies and subsidies for public housing. Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.
