U.S. general: Capture is 'strong proof' al Qaeda in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The U.S.-led coalition struck a blow in the war on terrorism with the capture of an al Qaeda operative in Iraq, a top U.S. military official said Thursday

Speaking to reporters, Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez discussed the arrest of Hasan Ghul, who was seized last week along the Iran-Iraq border.

"The capture of Ghul is pretty strong proof that al Qaeda is trying to gain a foothold here to continue their murderous campaigns," Sanchez said. "Ghul's capture is great news for the Iraqis, for the coalition and for the international community's war against terrorism."

3. Of course they're there NOW
Because some idiot created a power vacuum by ousting Saddam without adequate forces to occupy the country or a plan for establishing security and returning it to civilian government.
